Remarks :
I selected IIT Dhanbad because for me the ROI factor is very important and this university shines as compared to other universities. Research is the forte of our college, plus the NIRF rankings and I got in touch with some of my alumni and heard about the advantages and disadvantages and realized I can get opportunities in the college if I work hard.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Research is the forte of our faculty over here. All the faculties that join whether they are old or recently joined, all are highly experienced and renowned names, they publish regularly international journal. The course structure is very contemporary, the examinations we have regular evaluations,we have quiz and assignments rounds but the major marks comes from the internals that has 50% weightage. The rest 50% marks is from end semester examination.
Placement Experience :
As per the ROI and the tag of IIT the placement was good. I got placed in volvo, the highest internship stipend was 35,000 per month. Everyone got internships and placements also were good for students who opted for internships and students who did not wanted to sit in placement were left out and students are not forced here to sit into placements.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee for my batch is 4.2 lakhs but because of this covid situation we got a good amount of refund and it costed around 3.8 lakhs. Regarding scholarships, in IIT we all get the regular central government schemes, the SC/ST students scheme, for specifically girls, merit cum scholarships. There are even scholarships some of my batchmates are taking where they have to pay no fee.
Campus Life :
IIT's are very wholesome in this, the infrastructure is very good, its a quite big campus around 300 or 400 acres, we have different clubs such as maths club, astronomy club, gardening, singing or dancing club. We even have a full scale swimming pool and our college even hosted national aquatic few years ago and we have the largest technical library for engineers. In Dhanbad, its not party kind of place whatever life we have it is in and out of the campus.
Hostel Facilities :
The food isn't good here and everyone complains about it. Coming to the hostel, we had a double occupancy, but it was actually made for single occupancy but due to ISM got converted into IIT so because of the increased students it was made double occupancy but now college has made new hostels.
Admission :
They followed the CAP process and in my time we did not have any Group Discussion. We had VAT round where we were given an abstract topic and we had to write on that. Then I faced the PI round where they had two people from the panel on what you are doing and what are the plan of the future and was asked about electric vehicles, if they are gonna work or not. They checked the managerial aptitude part. There was nothing extraordinary to worry about, it was smooth. They were more focused on the general awareness.
