Brief overview of IITJ

Remarks :

I had the option of getting ME at newer IITs and at that time IITJ was having a decent rank. After having word with few seniors from IITJ, I chose to go for it. I did not refer any blog or website and just consulted few seniors of other IITs to get their views

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is almost what we have at every IIT. First year would consist of a blend of courses from CSE, EE, and ME and IITJ also allows the students to take specialisation in a particular field (eg. AI, Thermal, Robotics, etc.). Besides this, there are a lot of interesting HSS courses which will open up new avenues for sure. Earlier we were following a 10(A)-8(B)-6(C)-4(D) grading policy which was too stressful for us, but now they have changed it to 10-9-8. and so on. Professors are always willing to help if one approaches them and most of them are very good at teaching. There will be cut-throat competition although the batch strength is less, and labs would make it more stressful

Internships Opportunities :

My second-year research internship at IIT Indore was focused on the cooling of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems. This objective of my work was to conduct Multi-objective Optimization of Thermal resistance and Pumping power in a Rectangular Microchannel, This internship gave me an opportunity to review the various evolutionary algorithms available and identify the best one that suits my requirement. In addition to this, I also performed Numerical simulation of the optimum design in ANSYS Fluent in order to validate my results with experiments. I interned at GE Power during my pre-final year wherein I identified different techniques to model the heating zone in a conventional coal plant using User Defined Functions in Ansys Fluent.

Placement Experience :

Placements were not good earlier but has improved a lot. Companies such as L&T, Maruti Suzuki, TCS, HPCL, Oil India, ISRO, etc. have recruited students from IITJ in the past 2 years, and people from Mech also go for non-core companies. For mechanical branch, highest package offered was 16 lpa whereas the average package was around 9 lpa. One can get more insights on placements by visiting https://spc.iitj.ac.in

Fee Structure And Facilities :

For a General/OBC(creamy layer) student with family income greater than 6 lpa, the tuition fee would be 1 lakh per semester. If the family income is less than 6lpa, then one can apply for merit cum means scholarship which covers almost 60% of the tuition fee. For students with category as OBC - NCL, SC, ST, tuition fee is waived off. My first Internship was at IIT Indore where I was given a stipend of 5k. During my pre-final year, I interned at GE Power and the stipend there was 30k per month. Currently I am employed at Maruti Suzuki(I cannot disclose my salary as per company policy)

Campus Life :

IITJ has one of the best infrastructure facilities from rooms(single room with AC) to lecture halls and libraries. Mess food is not that good to be honest(quality of breakfast is acceptable), but fine dine facility is available as well. The seniors from IITJ are very helpful(especially the Counselling Service team). From safety point of view, it is really a safe place as the local people over there are very well-mannered and the Rajasthani culture is mesmerizing. There are several student-run clubs and societies which are mentored by our faculty members. Few of them includes Programming club, Entrepreneurship Cell, Automobile Club, Dance Club, Music Club, Dramatics Club, etc.

Hostel Facilities :

IITJ has one of the best infrastructure facilities from rooms(single room with AC) to lecture halls and libraries. The room size is pretty decent and there is a lot of open space to roam and have fun with friends. Facilities for indoor sports such as table tennis is provided and one can also play cricket/football/badminton in an open area provided near every hostel. That being said, there is a dedicated ground for each of the sports activities as well.Mess food is not that good to be honest(quality of breakfast is acceptable), but fine dine facility is available as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum prepares us for our real world applications of what we have pursued as there are regular feedbacks and continuous guidance from the faculty. By the end of the semester, the students are evaluated by a jury who review all the work the students have done throughout the semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main reason to choose this course is a lot of scope in this field and govt. Colleges are best for the experiences. The faculty of rush is amazing in teaching methods, nature, and all. Almost 4:25 is the ratio between teacher and students. All the teachers are very qualified because they all are mobs, MD qualified. So, their teaching methods are very good. The main exams are held every semester and the term exam is in every 3 months. The exam level is difficult.

Remarks:

The college is excellent and the facilities are also good. The college is affiliated from Rajasthan University. The bad thing is that it has no campus no canteen. The college has no play ground and also not so big infrastructure.

Admission:

There is no such things like GD, PI etc. The only thing is that you should prepare some files given by the college in which they will check your knowledge.
