Remarks
I had applied for TISS Mumbai, The other IIMs, but DMSIIT offers d a great opportunity to study in a highly subsidized manner. I had availed of the ST quota The minimum requirement was at around 60%ile for ST with good performance in X and XII The process started with a written test, we had to write a composition on a random topic, followed by a PI. No GD. There was no counseling as such and were intimidated only by mail.
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to study the different peripherals of business and management. While I am not aware of the exact ratios, it must have been around 1:7 faculty-student ratio. All our professors were highly qualifies having published multiple papers and were leaders in their area. The teaching was mostly case-based and the profs encouraged discussion and self-thinking. The term exams were at the end of each semester, and were easy to pass but sometimes difficult to score really high.
Internships Opportunities
There were many companies offering internship opportunities, almost all of the well-known companies would come on campus, including RB, Wipro, Accenture, black rock etc. The roles offered were varied from financial analysts to sales, marketing. All the various roles were offered. During my internships, I was tasked with onboarding of vendors, client management and I also worked on the digital marketing of the company.
Placement Experience
Campus placements would start from the first month itself in twrms of internships. The final placements would start from the beginning of the 2nd year and would go till everyone is placed. This year (2021) the highest package offered was 45 lacs WI h an average of around 16 lacs yearly. There are 100% placements. My plans were to take a breather before joining the company I was placed in.
Fees and Financial Aid
The free hike was around 10% annually, but being an ST the tuition itself was free. as mentioned the tuition fees were waived off, we were all also provided a laptop and through campus, placements got placed in college Dunia.
Campus Life
The central IIT had Rendezvous, which is the main cultural event of IIT, DMS itself also has Parivartan. These are both annual events. These would be conducted in the month of October and February respectively. the central library was always available, we also had a separate library which had mostly management books. There were a lot of sports events, inter-house contests, Cultural events going on throughout the campus. DMS had many committees and clubs and was run completely by students, from placecom to sports committees to technical committees.
Hostel Facilities
The room was small with two roommates, and we were provided with all the amenities such as wifi, drinking water etc. The meals were above par but would lack variety and is not for the health-conscious. The registration would be done through initially an application that would be passed on to hostel management and as per availability, you would be placed in one of the hostels. Payment could be done through an online portal.
Interview Experience
There was no GD, the interview questions were mostly personal, about interests and why are you choosing an MBA', there was also a written ability test. I had prepared by doing mock interviews with colleagues and also looking up topics that may come in wat.
