School of Excellence in Law is Excellent, literally!!!

Remarks :

I applied for VIT School of Law & Saveetha School of Law. But both the colleges had high annual fees and at the same time, it was ranked 2nd & 3rd respectively (in Chennai) in various websites. After considering the opinions and opportunities I chose the School of Excellence in Law which is considered no1 in Chennai and no2 in TN behind NLU in TN.Yes, the highest quota is given to SC & ST community and there is a quota for ex-officer, differently-abled, sportspersons & others. OC community has to have high scores bec the cutoff is very high.It only based on merit. No recommendation, No capitation fee. It is solely based on your 12th mark.mVery easy and convenient. Only through an online portal. No interview or group discussion

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose BBA LLB HONS bec it was relevant for my future plans. It's good for pursuing advocacy, civil services, ICSC business, and other fields. 1:52 is the faculty-student ratio. Most of the faculty taking legal subjects are lawyers. Others are qualified faculty but those who aren't familiar with Tamil will have a hard time as most faculty arent very fluent in English. But the teaching is not bad. It is basically average or above average. The teaching method is a traditional method nothing special. Exams are not hard to pass. Basically, the notes and the books in the library will suffice for preparation.

Internships Opportunities :

There are no internships offered by the university. We have to find out about our own internships. But seniors and faculty are always ready to help students choose an internship. The college just does not provide it directly, we have to find it for ourselves. Please don't expect campus recruitment.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is the greatest plus point. It is much less when compared to other institutions but the reputation, quality is not compromised. The annual fee is 70000 for OC,BC, and others but the course fee for SC, ST is ridiculously low. The cost to study is low. The scholarship is being offered to students with less annual income and certain communities. It changes every year so better check the college website for detailed info.

Campus Life :

The annual cultural program conducted is called TANTRA. It conducts sessions, sports day, ethnic day, competitions ( MUNs) and most important for a law student moot court competitions are conducted every year and it has a seperate website to notify the moot court competitions held all over the world. Classrooms are air-conditioned, a new building is being erected, a big ground, nice amenities, wifi, library, All India Reporter freely accessible in libraries. Most of the sports are recognized and competitions are conducted. There is a huge quota for girls so in a class 60% or 70% will be girls. All clubs such as NCC, NSS, Red Cross, and all other clubs function properly. The campus life is great. Good crowd. A lot of opportunities for students to take initiative and a great place to excel.

Other Applied Colleges

Saveetha School of Law | BBA LLB HONS

The fee is too high. Had better options with regard to others opinion and opportunities.

Placement Experience:

Placements are very mediocre. Few companies like Zoho, Agarwal, Etc visit for campus interviews but they offer less package. As for my knowledge maybe 2-5% get placed. I plan to practice as an advoca after graduating.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not great but it is improving. Students can apply during final semester. Companies like Surana and Surana, Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital, PNB housing, etc have visited and offered placements. Highest package was around 6,00,000 LPA. Percentage of students getting placed is unknown but it is very less. I plan to venture into corporate law after getting the degree. I rely on college placement to some extent.

Placement Experience:

In the final year, the college will bring placement and this college has a very good name in the city and is tied up with many big companies and firms. If you have 60% marks in every semester means you are eligible for a campus interview.

Admission:

The institute takes admission in the the five year integrated law course based on the the performance in Common Law Admission Test that is CLAT . I also applied based on my CLAT score and set for the counselling. I was allotted a seat in the college in the the later rounds of the counselling. Since Vellore Institute of Technology is a popular institute I opted for it and completed the procedural formalities for admission.

Placement Experience:

VIT is known for its good placement rate and the same goes true when it comes to placement of law department. Campus drives are conducted annually and decent packages of around 4.8 lpa to 5 lpa are offered to students. However when it comes to internship students have to make efforts on their own as University doesn't provides that good options.

Admission:

The college has a entrance exam and the selection is done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualification examination. There are total number of 120 seats in the LL.B program.Application process starts generally in the month of June every year.

Placement Experience:

The placements of the college are decent. Being in the college do help you in terms of job opportunity but the law course, specifically the 3 year LL.B course does not have as such any good placements.
