Remarks
IIM Ranchi offers admission to MBA HR batch through CAT Percentile. For the people who have an interest in HR, IIM Ranchi is one of the best place to get an MBA in HR. The process is bit different to get into this course as we need to apply separately and then we get interview calls based on our CAT percentile. The cutoff is not very high but the interview and the entire process is worth being a part of. The questions asked in the interview are very appropriate to test students on various criteria's. The batch size is pretty small about 70-75 students that is the best thing as every student can show their individual potential. The college has a curriculum where students develop in overall perspective because of which IIM Ranchi always have 100% placements in MBA HR batch. The only point of concern here is that we have to wait for the interview results as no waiting list is released, we get to know it only when we get call letter
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is same for all the first year students such that every student is equipped with same basic knowledge. In second year we study all the courses related to HR. We have an experienced set of professors who always bring innovative approach to make the learning easy and interactive. We have a very unique technique of practical learning by solving numerous cases in class curriculum itself. We have a small batch size of about 70-75 students that can very easy be looked after by the faculties. The learning is not only through class syllabus but we get some innovative projects through which we enhance our knowledge. We have 6 terms in total with two set of exams in each term. The questions asked in exams are very conceptual and can easily be solved if we listen very carefully to our professors.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities that we are offered at IIM Ranchi are best in giving us the best practical learning to implement our learnings in future. For MBA HR we have all the key roles being offered by various organizations be it Talent Acquisition, Employ Engagement etc. We have not started working but the experience shared by our seniors are all of great value and according to the roles we expect the same from our internships.
Placement Experience
The placements offered at IIM Ranchi are its strength. We have a diverse company visiting our campus for every profile. 100% placement is the key highlight of our college which is actually met every year. I will definitely prepare for final placements and try to grab the best opportunity.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for two years are about 16.5 lakhs (approximately) which is a lot of money but it can be justified by the placements that we get here. Also, we have a newly launched Foreign Exchange program for students for the MBA HR batch at IIM Ranchi that is an excellent opportunity for enhancing global experience although the cost is to be paid by students. Students performing consistently well are offered scholarships that benefit them in reducing the cost incurred. The jobs offered are pretty satisfactory and are enough to compensate for all the money invested.
Campus Life
Although we did not have the opportunity to visit the campus because of the online scenario the experience was truly engaging. We have an online library where we can access anything and everything. Also, we receive cases that are relevant to us by our professors. We have many clubs and committees that are all run by the students. Many events are organized by these clubs and committees be it the interaction with company experts or organizing college fest. This year we organized the first online fest that was very successful and had huge participation from many B schools all over India.
Interview Experience
Due to lockdown, we have an online PI round after getting shortlisted on the basis of our CAT percentiles. A variety of questions were asked in the interview for the basic question to introduce yourself to any feedback we had for the process. I was asked about two to three situational questions, few HR based questions and many questions based on my previous work experience. A few questions were also based on mental ability to test the presence of the mind. The entire process was smoothly conducted even in the online scenario as well. The preparation was common for all the interviews, the only thing that I had prepared for IIM Ranchi was to study about the college as much as possible so that I could include all the points in my answers.
