Ravi Kumar's Review On Thakur College Of Engineering And Technology - [TCET], Mumbai

Remarks :

The teaching staff, the administration staff all are friendly and helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Exam are part of evaluation, but not research driven and fair as people attending more classes get more marks. there are seminars conducted every year where experts are invited to hold the seminars, but one has to pay extra for attending those seminars (in my branch it was compulsory for everyone to attend those seminars and pay fees for the same).

Placement Experience :

I have applied for internship but not through the college. About placements, departments such as Computer science and information technology achieve 100% placements. Apart from these other branches do get placed but on average basis.

College Events :

Their are many festivals from sports to cultural to tech inspired. TAARANAGN is an inter-collegiate festival celebrated anually at Thakur College of Science and Commerce. This young and fast growing festival has been having 20, 000+ footfall on the first 2 days of TAARANGAN with 3, 000 Participants from over 100+ Colleges across Mumbai.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees is quit expensive, I paid nearly 1. 3 lakh per year for 4 years. As the college is semi private. But this fees is only for general students rest there are various categories of caste and other reservations where sometimes one pay only around 30000 or so.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college do provide funding support but through government schemes. People with lower income are provided financial support.

Campus Life :

Particularly my department had only 25 girls out of the batch of 120 students. but this is not the scenario with other departments as CS and IT and EXTC have nearly 50% gender ratio among boys and girls. This might be due to the interest of genders in different branches of engineering. As there is no kind of discrimination between the genders.

Hostel Facilities :

The college provide hostel accommodation with different fees structure. the facilities provided in hostel are also nice. No one from outside is allowed into rooms. seperate discussion room is provided for guets in hostel.

Alumni/Alumna :

I didn't had any such experience. There are programs in college festivals where alumni do come to the college and share their corporate experiences.

Admission :

I choose civil engineering as Civil Engineers are an integral part of society, without them, we would have no roads, airports, buildings, dams, harbours etc. It is safe to say that a Civil Engineering degree gives you the best of both worlds due to its diversity (there's a whole lot of things one can do in this field). I appeared for state entrance exam in 2016 for seeking admission in my college.

Faculty :

The faculty in my department was one of the best compared to other departments as they were much student friendly and helpful. Any kind of requests were fulfilled be changing of faculty to letter of recommendation for internships. There were technology inspired festivals as well also and we do get to learn a lot from such fests.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very interesting. Sanskrit is our ancient language you must have to learn and understand it. I personally like to learn different languages that's why I choose the course. Faculty and student is perfectly fine. Faculty members and teachers are very supportive and lovable. The pattern is semester basis and unit test are also their. You have to work hard on the language method then you can score the numbers.

Remarks:

College is close to my residence. Staff is known. Brother is a student from same college. Therefore it helped me give insights in order to take admission at this college. After checking the placements record, I felt it opportune enough for me to admit here. And also, it provided the course in which I was interested.

Placement Experience:

Companies like KPIT, TCS,etc visit the college every year. The college conducts number of events for guiding the students regarding their job profiles and placement procedure. The alumnis of the college conduct a meeting every semester in order to keep in touch with the students. Also, there is opportunity of students to apply for fellowships. Students are trained for entrepreneurship under the guidance of alumni. Due to this, tree years ago, a student from first year was able to open a start up in the second year itself.
