Remarks :

My experience with Shahaji Law College was very good. I gained knowledge, experience and confidence along with a funnfilled college life. I also gained some good relations in the form of friends profesors. Good experience with this college.

Entrance Preview :

While studying Company Secretarial course knowledge of law was helpful hence took up the LLB 3 yr course.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Good. There are two courses available. One is 5 yr law course which can be taken after passing 12th standard and the 3 yr law course which can be taken after you have completed graduayion frpm any other discipline. After completimg my B Com I had taken the 3 year law course. First two years the subjects are same. Third year you have option of choosing between women's law and taxation. The taxation discipline needs to be developed. Apart from regular coursr you get exposure of legal aid camps which give you practical experience of solving disputes. Various inter college competitions give you confidence and develop your personality. Library helps you enhance your knowledge.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes Internship is available for passed out students. However there were some criterias for the same. stipend on hourly basis was also available. The amount of stipend not known to me.

Placement Experience :

When you passout with law degree you have various options of either starting your own practice, or getting hired in legal dept. Of companies at various designations, you can even become professionals like Ca Cs with added llb qualification, you can even become judge by giving special exams, IAS IPS IFS and banking services are also the options.

College Events :

1. Legal Aid camps to various nearby villages which provided assistance and legal awareness to the uneducated villagers. 2. Moot courts competitions inside as well as between local law colleges were held. 3.Seminars and Legal workshops on carious reforming topics were held inside college. 4. Inter college competitions 5. College Magazine wad pyblished every year with inputs from students, professors and even ex students experience were included. 6.Blood donation camps and Special days as part of cultural activities were also celebrated in college at different occassions.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Its feasible. Dont remember the fees structure now but it was feasible or affordable for even lower middle class families. Apart from tution fees and exam fees there were no other fees taken by the college. Books were available in the college library which could be used. There were special concessions for girls under government girls education scheme and also for underpriviledged students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There was trust scholarship available for the deserved candidates. Since the college is a very old and renowned onw in the city many nationalised banks provided loan for education.

Campus Life :

In our college Gender ratio was equal. Since the discipline was of law many girls were attracted towards the profession. Students from various nearby villages and cities also took admissions. Students from various financial backgrounds enrolled in our college. There was no bias in the college admissiobs whatsoever.

Hostel Facilities :

The college did not have its own hostel facility. However there were almost 15% stidents who were coming from the nearby villages to our college. Hence in a city like kolhapur there were many nearby private Hostels available at reasonable rates. Mess facility is also available at very affordable prices.

Alumni/Alumna :

From day one in the college I was guided by my Seniors who helped me with the admission procedure. Later on while preparing for the competitions our seniors helped us with their knowledge and experience. they also provided us reference books which were otherwise costly if purchased from shops. They were always helpful and guided us whenever needed.

Exam Structure :

There were term exams which were devided into written exams and viva. For viva exams there were external examiners coming to college. There were exam fees which needed to be paid. We were supposed to prepare our Journals and submit to external examiners. Exams were at proper intervals giving time for other activities.

Admission :

Very simple and easy process. You get the form at the entrance office. List of documents needed will also be given to you. Minimum eligibility criteria will be told. If you qualify then just submit the basic documents and one term fees and you are done.

Faculty :

From 2000 to 2003 we were blessed by a very supportive staff. our Principal sir and various senior practising advocates were our visiting professors. Overall we had a very good and helpful staff. The staff also provided assistance was available even after college hours.

Placement Experience:

Students of the 3 year course become eligible for campus placements after the 4th semester. Firms like Khaitan and Co., Trilegal, AZB visit the college for placements. Highest packages have gone up to 12 lakhs per annum with average package being 8 lakhs per annum. Around 60% of students get placed. I plan to sit for collelge placements as I want to get into coporate law.

Placement Experience:

From 4th Year of the college the student is eligible for a pre-placement offer, main placements happen in the Final year i,e. 5th year. Companies that hire majorly are Tier-1 and Tier-2 law firms, like AZB, Khaitan&Co. Average package goes to about 15-16LPA. My plan is not fixed yet, but I aim to pursue SEBI or RBI law officer exam.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities in GLC are great. Top-tier law firms come to GLC for placements and internships. The highest package goes to 20 LPA and the average package is around 7 LPA. There are 2 placement weeks in GLC, one in February and another one in September. If one doesn't get any placements through the placement weeks, one can apply to the firms individually and they can be placed depending upon their experience and grades.
