Remarks :
I thought of doing my M.Tech in IIT's or NIT's so due to low score I have only chance of NIT. So when I got Thermal Engineering in National Institute of Technology, Durgapur I accepted it without any second thought.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum is not so good and not so bad it's kind of mediocre. Curriculum required a lot of updation. Even more industrial exposure is needed in terms of internship opportunity etc. Academicss are good. Faculties are good but in any college you will have few lecturers whose teaching is not liked by many students.
Placement Experience :
Placement is not good for my program in this college. Not many core companies calling us for placements. Even few companies calling but not recruiting. This the same case even for my seniors.
College Events :
Campus life is good. You can have good studies along with your favourite sports to play. You can go outside and roam until 22:00. If your hostel is far away from academic building owing a cycle would help you a lot. Only cycles are allowed to students. PhD's can avail other vehicles.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Central government will give you stipend of Rs.12,400 monthly if you get admission through GATE throughout out your 2 years academics.
Campus Life :
No WiFi facility in hostel rooms. LAN is available for every person in hostel i.e 2 LAN per room. WiFi facility is average in class rooms. Library is under renovation but once it is complete it will be good. Lab equipment is ok you can carry on necessary experiments.
Hostel Facilities :
All students of B.Tech and M.Tech streams should stay in hostel only. They are not allowed to stay outside the college. For 2 persons 1 hostel room is provided. Mess fees is separate. You need to buy coupons daily for next day food. The coupon cost around 100 including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
