Remarks :

IIT Guwahati is a relatively new institution in IIT fraternity but in the short span of time it has established itself as a premier institution. College management has played a big role in this progress. However it has suffered in the past due to its remote location in the North-East of India.

Entrance Preview :

IIT JEE, Rank 1440I chose this college due to my preference for electronics and communication as branch.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum was meant to develop all round knowledge base in electronics and communication as well as electives in various domains. Like economics, psychology, sociology, drama and philosophy. We were also allowed to take electives from other departments of engineering as per our interest.

Internships Opportunities :

Companies like Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Sclumberger came for hiring students for internship. At that time stipend offered was around Rs 15,000 per month.

Placement Experience :

Placement opportunities are very good with more than 90% people getting placed. Companies like Sclumberger, Google, Microsoft, Deutche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Tata Motors, Cisco Systems, Cosmic Circuits and many more came for hiring. They offered pay package in the range of 5 Lac to 30 Lac.

College Events :

Techniche, Annual techno-management festival see participation from across India with around 5,000 participants. Alcheringa, Annual cultural festival see participation of more than 15,000 people and featuring important personalities of Indian talent. Manthan is the Annual inter-hostel competition.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

At that time we used to pay around 32,000 per year. This comes out to be approx 16,000 per semester. Apart from this mess bill was charged extra per month. However there were no charges for hostel stay.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

College offered merit cum means scholarship to students. It has also collaboration with many private sector organizations which offer scholarships to bright students.

Campus Life :

IIT Guwahati has a vibrant campus life with year round options for extracurricular in the form of sports, culturals, literary activities etc. Gender ratio is poor but tolerance to gender, ethnicity, race, religion and economic status is high. Hostel parties were frequent on occasions like birthdays, job placement etc.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni base of the institute is not as strong as other older institutions. However the existing alumni are very enthusiastic and supportive to everyone. Regular contacts are maintained by conducting frequent alumni meetings at various places.

Exam Structure :

Exams were spread out throughout the year. There were regular classes and lab sessions due to which weekdays were used to be hectic. However weekend were chilled out.

Faculty :

Faculty of the college was very young and dynamic. They encouraged innovation and promoted continous learning. Faculty was well qualified in their areas of expertise. They also encouraged extra-curricular activities among students.

It's a fact that the Indian education system is not designed or promoted for skills sharing. But if you are in CIT the scenes are quite different. In CIT various seminars and programs related to a high balance between a curriculum and an industrial side

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have choose EE because it's have both core and it features so i believe that I will go for core but if the situation changes then accordingly i will shift. The curriculum is pretty good in this campus according to me that's why I have choose this course. I don't think I have enough thinking level to suggest about that. Before exam there should be some gap for studies purpose I mean to say classes should be off. And everything is good.

Placement Experience:

The placement in NIT Silchar is decent. You will be eligible for placement from the 4th year but you will be associated with the T&P cell from the 3rd year. The companies which came for placements in 2022 are Samsung R&D Institute, Bangalore, Larsen and Toubro, Bharat Electronics Limited, Amazon Web Services, Vedanta Resources Limited, Make My Trip, etc. The highest package is 44 LPA in 2022 offered by Amazon Web Services and the average package is 15-16 LPA. Almost 95% of students get placed in CSE & and 90% in ECE, followed by EIE whereas in other branches the percentage is low. After getting the degree, I will be seating for placements and getting a Job Of course.

Placement drives are held in December of every year for the students who complete their 7th semester. Placements are quite good over here, The highest package this year is 2.4 crore and the average package fluctuates between 20 to 25 LPA every year. One can also go for higher studies, there is no harm.

Don't worry about placements, they are quite good. Our campus highest package this year is 2.5 cr/annum There are many other stats on our official website, you can refer to that. Mostly many people get interns in their 5th or 6th sem and get placed at the end of the 7th sem. I will talk more about this after going the second year atleast
