College management is a great things. They are so helpful and will treat you like family.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is mainly divided into practical and theory based. The teachers/ professors here are very helpful and guides throughout. The syllabus is mainly based on the syllabus by Calcutta University. The labs are well equipped and one is continuously monitored while working on a project.

Class Size : 70Course Fees : INR 10000 per year

Placement Experience :

The professors and the facilities keeps sending whatsapp and email notifications on internships and jobs offered.

College Events :

There are number of events celebrated. Something or the other is happening always. College takes part in socially active events, every department has fresher's, farewell. The college also organises Inter College Festival and also actively takes part in other Inter College Festivals.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The required fee for my course ie Journalism and mass communication is around 25k per year. The subject is a bit costly. But whereas courses like Sociology hons has got the fees around 7k. The college accepts online payment, offline payment and bank transfer.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college has no scholarship in particular. But being a government college you can avail all the facilities and scholarship by the state government. The college provides Kanyasree by the state government.

Campus Life :

Labs are perfectly and pretty well equipped. Sports and competitons are a part of daily life. I am sure that everyone is gonna go and enjoy their college life here at Asutosh. Gender ratio is almost 1:1. Debates, dance, and all the co circular actives take place.

Hostel Facilities :

No, I have not opted for any hostel. There are number of hostels. Also there are so many PGs around. It will never be a problem to get a home to live. And you will definitely get a family in the college. For hostel infos contact the office.

Alumni/Alumna :

They are very helpful. Most of them will stand in line and get your work done. They are just too helpful to express in words.

Admission :

I was a Statesman Coordinator while I was school. Thus I opt for Journalism and mass communication hons. Admission procedure is very straightforward and completely based on merit list. The office staffs are very helpful. The dates range from the month June-July.

Faculty :

The faculties are well qualified. All the facilities/professors hold a master degree in minimum. Some of the professors hold a PhD degree. Most of them has field work experience. They also have worked on radio shows. The non teaching staff there is also very helpful.

I'd rate my curriculum 7/10 because honestly, I believe that a bit more of practical training must be included and taught in reference to the subjects, which would prove to be useful to us in some way or the other when we are out of college.

Yes, there are placement opportunities provided to the interested students. There are various MNC and media houses coming for placements And offering various roles in PR, Content writing, Digital marketing.

AN INSIGHT TO JOURNALISM IN AMITY UNIVERSITY KOLKATA

Placement Experience:

As being admitted during the time of pandemics, huge spikes in placements isn't visible although the college ensures 100 percent placement but i think its a hoax. The students performing average like about 6.5 cgpa are entitled to sit for the placement and media houses like ndtv, aaj tak are the companies to come as of my plan i intend to complete higher studies before sitting for a placement.

Remarks:

It's an old and reputed college of Kolkata. It recently got accredited as an A category institute by NAAC. It has one of the best Journalism and Mass Communication courses in Kolkata. The college is conveniently located in the city with access to all forms of public transportation.

The college has a good name and receives awards from institutions such as times, but the education system is not good at all. Being a practical subject, we haven't been taken outside the classroom even once.

Remarks:

Amity has grown in the past 12 years and specially around India where it has till now been able to provide a high level education system in 11 states. The Kolkata branch itself is about 4 years now and since then it has grown to a massive amount .

Apparently lots of students do bunk classes, but the classes conducted by teachers are always in function for which it ultimately depends upon the students whether they want to bunk or attain classes secondly, politics is an integral part yet are not compus.
