Remarks :

This is one of the ideal college having a limited number of students per batch for better students- teachers cooperation. As a student of this college, I'd refer this institution to anybody seeking graduation study in History Majors.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The College Course Curriculum strictly follows the guidelines as per the Assam State Higher Education Council and the Gauhati University. Standard Operating Procedure of Dispur College is faithfully relevant according to the state law and the guidelines of UGC as well. The courses provided and the routine classes are scheduled on the basis of thorough research and academic classes operates in a fair mechanism. The teachers here are well learned and qualified professionals and hence it shaped me into a better student and a better individual with every classes held.

Placement Experience :

Dispur College does not provide college placement. The internship offered differs from course to course and as of now, being a final year graduation student, I haven't availed any such opportunities or any internships and I haven't been offered any placement.

College Events :

The college holds all kind of educational workshops, book fairs, seminars and guest lectures. The college also celebrates occasions such as Republic Day flag hoisting, Independence Day flag hoisting, Annual College Week, Sports Week, Literacy Week, Magazine Day, Department Week & Cultural Week (usually held in the month of January and February), it also recognizes specials days like College Establishment Day, Saraswati Puja, Teachers' Day, Students' Day, Freshers' Day, Farewell Day, Graduation Day etc. All the occasions have student's involvement in huge numbers under the special guidance of the teachers. Students are designed duties and they put equal work and bring a great output. No amount of money or fee is asked from any students, all the money is born by the college itself.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is quite inexpensive in comparison to other colleges in the city. The admission fees lie in between the range of 5,000.00 to 9,000.00 for one academic year. (This fee is basically the fees for graduation and Higher Secondary Level). The College also offers free education as per the schemes of Assam State Government and also offers special fee concessions and Scholarships under some special criteria.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No, I haven't opted for any scholarship or Education Loan. But to avail a scholarship, one must fill up the respected forms/application as and when offered by the State government/ Minority Board, Bank schemes like Ishan Uday etc. There are primarily 3 major national banks within a walking distance from the Dispur College. These Banks are - Canara Bank (Dispur Branch), SBI (Ganeshguri Branch), and Syndicate Bank ( Dispur Branch). All these three banks offer educational loans at a marginal rate as per the Central Government. Eligibility criteria to avail such loans would depend on the residence of the individual, educational criteria involve students having passed H.S (12th), income source and annual income of parents, CIBIL score of the parents etc. On average, a student gets around Rs 5000/ month to Rs 6500/month. Other minority boards in the state also provides around Rs 10000/ year to Rs 15000/ year as scholarships to the reserved category students.

Campus Life :

The Gender Ratio is around 55:45 (55% male and 45% female). The also offers seats to all the three genders, as per the day. The college provides an ideal campus life with a good environment. Dispur College has extracurricular activities for its students. It involves NCC, SCOUT & GUIDE, Anti Ragging Cell, Students' Union etc. The college doesn't have a science lab as it doesn't a science background nor does it provides academic studies in Science. But it has individual dedicated libraries for each department and one Common Library for all the students. It has a Gymnasium hall, a seminar hall, Computer Labs, two Students' Common rooms each for male students and female students, 1 General hall for all students, 5 projection rooms for digital studies. All the departments have respected societies for learning and students portal. Each department schedules various seminars, webinars, guest lectures, literary events, workshops, sessional exams, routine assignments and projects etc. The students from all economic and religious background enjoy equal status and rights in this college. Dispur College is void of any discrimination be it religious, economic, political or gender.

Hostel Facilities :

No, the college doesn't have a hostel facility for its students. But there are a number of PG's in and around the college within a range of 1 to 2 km. Average PG fees may vary from Rs - 6,000 to 10,000 per month. The PG's around the Ganeshguri, Hatigaon area offers 24x7 running water, has rooms with sharing basis and provides 2 times heavy meal along with morning breakfast. The deposit fees may vary from Rs 10,000 to 15,000 as an advance fee. The common mode of transportation for the students staying in PG's is the city bus as well as the Greater Guwahati City Trackkers ( Tata Spacio or Tata Maximo vehicles) which range around Rs 10 for first 5 kms and additional Rs 5 per next 5 km.

Alumni/Alumna :

Dispur College has a special Alumni organization. Notable alumni are a part of the College management and are also invited occasionally as guest, members, speakers, motivators, advisors etc. The alumni group hold a respectful position in the college management and look after the well being of the teachers, students, college properties, college law and security. The seniors or ex-college students take part in student portals, help out with the event management, and has an influence on disciplinary activities of the college.

Admission :

This is one of the premier colleges in Guwahati city which offers subject specialization in History in Graduation level, this is the reason I chose this institute for my B.A. I've got admission into this college in the year 2017 only on the basis of my merit performance in my 12th final exam. i.e Higher Secondary exam. Steps to take admission in this college involves the foremost procedure of collection the college prospectus and then submitting the same after duly filling it, in the time period as mentioned in the prospectus. Once that is done, a fixed dated is scheduled for the date of admission and on that vary date, all forms submitted are taken for admission procedure when the candidates make up to the merit list under all the laws and regulations of the college as well as the government. Dispur College also has seats reserved for the reserved category students as per the law. Once done with the admission procedure, one needs to pay the respected fees, and the College also offers free education as per the state government schemes. The last procedure includes opting for the subjects for their respected academic course, which all individuals must choose according to the subjects combination as provided by College/State Education Board/UGC.

Faculty :

The faculty involves teachers from the different subject background. The college has teachers with Doctoral degrees (PhD) as well as those with M.Phil, along with others in Masters in the different subject specialization. Ages vary in different numbers, the youngest teacher would be in around the early 30s and the eldest and the most experienced once would be in mid 50s with decades of teaching experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose philosophy as my major course as I want to learn about the things we experienced and the way they are the curriculum prepares me well enough to overcome in my day-to-day life I haven't faced any need for improvement in the teaching method. Exams were indeed a difficult task as a student, we hardly had a week to prepare ourselves for the examination.

Course Curriculum Overview:

history is interlinked with all subjects. It describes the social formation, decision and mistakes that shapes the world. it gives moral values and mistakes that shouldn't be carried out again. The subject is very interesting and should be considered once.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose BA because of peer pressure, but it wasn't so bad because you can go in any direction. Real world application isn't a thing of the course. But it can help you if you want to study further. Classes have digital boards, that's a plus. Each semester consists of 1 sessional exam and 1 final exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is of 3 year long duration. There's a total of 14 papers and each semester we get specific papers according to our sem ( ex: sociology of religion, sociology of gender, kingship, stratification, etc.) + we have a Generic subject. With generic in every semester we had a compulsory subject with our honors and Generic, indeed it was something new that we learned.

Course Curriculum Overview:

About the course curriculum, I still wonder why they have to put science subjects on the course curriculum of arts students. They would say it's a basic course but it is definitely not. Those arts students came there to learn their main subjects. I think it is unnecessary to put sc subjects there plus it is not basic. Otherwise the main subjects' curriculum is pretty well organised and planned.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like the subject english that is why I chose this course, I'm studying ba in English and i will do post graduation in also english, but in our department student teacher relationship is not good enough, I can't communicate with my department's professor as much. The other problem is last year we gave 3 semesters exams together in a year which should be held after 6months, I would like to request the authorities to give concern about that.
