Remarks

No. The institute doesn't have any major challenges or negatives to discuss. The environment is fairly nice, one may take some days to adjust but once adjusted, will enjoy the place and the winters.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum was fairly practical with a combination of in-class teaching, case studies based approach, practical solution finding basis situation analysis exercises and independent or group presentation. The projects are also encouraged in new and upcoming areas with faculty going out of their positions to network with industry for getting leads for projects or meetings with subject matter experts

Placement Experience

4

I am from the third batch a passed out in 2002 when the industry had tough times especially post Y2K issue and Sept 11, 2001 attacks in the US. However, we could still get over 65% of students placed with reputed banks, IT companies, Consumer product companies, biggies like Reliance Industries, etc.

College Events

4

Marketing Fair, Annual forum on emerging industry topics, A business plan presentation competition wherein entries are invited from both the experience people and the students. These are some of the known ones to be named while many others are organised during the course of MBA.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is fairly competitive considering the depth of the course, facilities, IIT brand and the faculty. On a comparative basis, this institute shall be at a fairly good discount to many reputed names in our country. Further, no additional amount was required to be paid for admission.

Fees and Financial Aid

No. The college didn't offer any scholarships to the students. There was no such system for any student with any kind of background.

Campus Life

4.5

The institute, primarily an engineering institute, still offers a fairly balanced gender ratio in several courses, including MBA. The hostel rooms are nice and well ventilated with a lot of greenery across the institute, good places to go for walk and exercises, and several games facilities available. The campus boast of a beautiful administrative block built with grandeur or British architecture and once can have an experience of interacting with people from places outside India as well as Indians with different backgrounds.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes, the hostels were individual rooms with fairly good space. The room had a single bed (bedding to be brought in by oneself). It has a study table, a side table, a double door almirah with lock and key, an open shelf to keep cosmetics, books, puja things, etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, on many fronts, especially summer placements and live projects. The students have got some intellectually challenging and fantastic projects from the industry through its respected alumni only.

Admission

I wanted to do management in my PG and MBA was a logical choice. Post doing my graduation in commerce, it was good to appear for MBA entrance exams and get shortlisted in the Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee. My reason to select this place was because of the quality of faculty, the visiting faculty coming from very reputed institutes such as IIFT, FMS, Delhi School of Economics, etc. Also, the set up was a part of the University of Roorkee, a prestigious engineering institute and an institute that offers a Degree and not a Diploma for MBA. Further, the infrastructure is by far amongst the best considering that the University got the status of IIT and additional funding for its development. Also, the place, Roorkee is well connected from Delhi and some other prominent cities of India through rail and road and also offers various opportunities for excursions to Mussorie, Hardwar, Rishikesh and various other places

Faculty

4.5

Fairly experienced in their respective domains with 95% of the faculty members being very well aware of their subject. The faculty members are reviewed periodically to assess the requirement of churn and bring in subject matter experts from various industries, institutions.

Placement Experience:

The placement rate is around 90%. Students become eligible for campus placements from the start of 3rd semester, although you can get in earlier through summer internship and ppos. Overall average package is around 8 lakh. Top 15% students get 14-17 lakh. Highest package for this year was 33 lakh. Many top companies like Amazon, Adani, EY, PwC, KPMG, Accenture, Adobe, Microsoft, Infosys, BlueDart, Dell, Deloitte, Genpact and more come to the campus. I aim on getting into big 4 consulting firms.

As soon as the second year starts, companies start coming for placements. These include ICICI bank, Wellsfargo, Genpact, Amazon, TresVista, Havells, TVS, Tech Mahindra etc. The highest package goes around to be 40-50 Lacs while average is around 14-15 Lacs. Almost all get placed while the rest opt-out from the process either for off-campus offers or pursuing higher education.

Placement Experience:

Just after one year completion of the college students get opportunity to be seated for college placements and companies start coming every second or third week to the campus, but even if they are selected for the company, they were asked to go for job in their last semester or may be after completion of college in some cases. Many companies including Deloitte,KPMG, COPSOL, amd 100 more have come to the college and taken students as per their needs, but each company takes 2 to 8 employees and sometimes they don't take students as they need students according to their preferences for their job role. Highest package has been offered till 21 lakhs to student for finance role in the company and average is around 5 to 8 lakhs of packages are there for students for different streams, most companies provide visited in campus are for marketing where the job role is mostly management trainee where they atleast get 5 lakhs of package plus incentives in their job. College was previously affiliated to other university named UTU(Uttrakhand technical University) so students used to get less percentage, maximum percentages used to around 85 to 90% , and only tier 1 companies used to ask for more than 75%. My plans are clear to get placement from the college as I have invested myself and money to the college so I can get good understanding of the course which helps my career, so I want a good placement in marketing role which will be best for me.

They are very less experienced to handle pg students as of now there is a very much lack in the implementation part. The kpmg part is only good as industry person as kpmg employees teaches they divided the class into 2 parts to handle the large class
