An institute of national importance

We are running our college on a temporary campus in Shillong as the permanent campus is under construction in cherrapunji. The only bad thing about this college is we have a lot of restrictions because of the temporary campus.

Talking about course curriculum, it is the same as all other NIT's. We have the same syllabus as the other NITs are having. Exam structures are also simple for UG courses. We have 2 main exams in a semester midterm and end-term consisting of 50 marls and 100 Marks respectively. 2 class tests of 15 marks each in a semester and 2 assignments consisting of 10 marks each. Total of 200 marks per subject.

Lots of opportunities to the students who have to use their personality and technology to the resource on the infant of company hr and different type of jobs are provided in this college to the students who have their knowledge to export the world and itself.

The institute celebrates mainly two events technical fest( Cognitia) and cultural fest( Shishir). Both the fest have enough contribution and students from other nearby institutes also come to participate. Talking about Cognitia is the largest technical fest in Meghalaya state.

As the institute is a government institute. The fees structure is also followed as laid by the government. For a general category student, the tuition fees are Rs. 62500/- per semester and for a hosteller, the total fees per semester is Rs96000/- including tuition fees hostel fees, and mess fees. For SC/ST students and for students having family income less than 1lakh per annum the tuition fees are waived off. Also for the general category and OBC category students having family income less than 5lakh rupees per annum 2/3rd of the tuition fees is waved off.

Depending on what grades we achieve the college provides different types of scholarships. Talking about loan facilities, the college provides an option to pay the fees using an SBI education loan or any other bank loan.

Talking about extracurricular activities the college has a lot of scope in it, there are different types of clubs such as robotics club, coding club, music, and dance club. Each year we have a chance to participate in new workshops organized by the college to keep us up to date with new technology and to enhance our skills. Talking about gender ratio we have some seats reserved for girls so to maintain a good gender ratio in the college.

I am a hosteller. The hostel fees consist of 1500rs electricity and water charge 16000rs mess fees and 5000 rs transportation fees per semester. Hostel infrastructure is good and we are provided with Wifi in our hostels. Depending on the size of the room the number of tenants is decided. In each room, 1 to 4 students are given beds.

The Alumni network and seniors are very good in nature and extremely helpful. They are working hard to ensure the stable working of the institute. Seniors help us at every point where we get stuck and give us the right direction.

The admission process is quite straightforward. Admission is done only on the basis of JEE main for undergraduate and GATE for Masters and Ph.D. Addmission process for UG is done by JOSAA. Compulsory subjects in +2 level are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

All the faculty members are either M. tech or Ph.D. graduated from renowned universities and IIT's. They are hard-working and always there to clarify the doubts of students. Most of the teachers are a lot more interested in teaching and are teaching as a passion rather than for earning money so they know how to create interest in the classroom and make sure everyone student is mentally present in the class.
