A Glimpse Into Life At NIT Meghalaya

The curriculum is designed to cover both fundamental and advanced topics across engineering disciplines. Strong foundation in a core subject. Balance structure with theoretical classes complemented by lab sessions and practices. Limitations: More industry exposure is needed. Lab infrastructure needs a lot of improvement.

In the 6th semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. There are many companies who want the 7th-semester student to sit in their placement process. The name of the companies are as follows: Infosys 4 offers L&T 5 offers Google 2 offers POWERGRID 2 offers Etc Approximately 71 % of students got placement in many companies. I will do farming after getting my degree.

As a student of the 2013 batch of the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (NIT) MEGHALAYA the fee structure is as follows. Tution fee: Rs 35000/- per year for general and OBC category students. There is no fee for ST/ST category students (tution fee waived). Fee other than tution fee: Admission fee: Rs 2500/- Registration fee: Rs 1000/- Examination fee: Rs 1000/- Lab fee: Rs 1000/- Training and placement fee: Rs 1000/- The fee of the institute is increased from 2015 onwards. Merit scholarship: The scholarship is awarded to the top 5% of B.tech students in each batch. It is granted from 2nd to 8th semester

COGNITIA: technical festival typically held in September/ October SHISHIR: cultural test typically held in February March Houses of over 7500 books covering scoence, math, engineering, humanities and management . There are sport competition in many indoor and outdoor games. Indoor games like batminton, table tennis, chess. Outdoor games like cricket.

The hostles provided to us is quite good and spacious. The are one study table , one sleeping bed and one almirah for storage. The house keeping are good. Routine dusting and wiping in done The food provided is of good quality, but sometimes it seems like hell. Registration process is very simple which is done during admissrion.

I applied through the JEE MAINS counselling process for many NITs. I got a confirmed seat in NIT Meghalaya. I didn't get any rejection from any other college because I did my councelling through JEE MAINS only. The admission process of NIT Meghalaya is going through councelling. Once you get a seat locked in NIT Meghalaya, you have to pay the fee and start the study.

Faculty to student ratio is approximately 1:15 which is better than many engineering college. It ensures better interaction and support. Professors maintain open office hours, helps students seek career advice.

The nightlife is average and little adventurous because there are mountains all around the hostle campus. The gym is provided open during day and before night. Hostles are open from 4 AM to 10 PM. Since the campus is temporary, so the college campus is closed after evening.
