Remarks :
Library is very limited and it opens at 9AM and remain opened till 5APM but very less no. of books, and no Online Library Access like Manupatra, Oxford digital Library, Jstor. etc..College Administration everywhere including prospectus mentioned that Campus is fully Wifi enabled but the wifi network is password protected, students are not allowed to access internet, but each student is charged Rs.2,500/- per year for Internet.Good Thing is that if a student does not attended even a single class in a academic calendar then he/she will be fined with Rs.1000/- and he/she become eligible to write University Examination, can't figure out what they will do after law degree.Very less Parking area.
Entrance Preview :
NEF Law College Entrance Test (NLET).I appeared NLET in 2012 and I got 8th rank in the entrance test. However College Administration does not use to disclose the marks obtained by a students in NLET. But if you had studied well in class 10th or 12th, you need not to worry about the NLET. The syllabus is similar of CLAT (CLAT held by NLUs) but NLET is very very easy in comparison to CLAT.If you are not aware of CLAT syllabus and seeking for Admission in NEF Law College, then also its fine.. because its just a formality mandated by Bar council to held an entrance test for 5 years Law Course.In NEF the present seat capacity is 60, 60 and 60 for BA,LLB(Hons), BBA,LLB(Hons) and B.Com,LLB(Hons) respectively..Half of the seats are remain vacated for BBA,LLB(Hons) and B.Com,LLB(Hons).Dreaming NEF??? Okay, just do form fill up and appear in NLET that's all you will be in NEF.
Course Curriculum Overview :
NEF Law College is affiliated to Gauhati University and approved by Bar Council of India.So the syllabus is designed and prescribed by Gauhati University per se.Classes are on regular basis, Monday to Saturday except Sundays and holidays.Academic timing is between 10 AM to 3.30 PM, in some semester we had classes between 9.00AM to 2.30AM too..there is a half hour break from 1PM to 1.30PM.
Internships Opportunities :
May be yes, because no body from college ask us to go for a internship but if a student ask for a bonafide forwarding letter for internship then College use to issue one.I personally had 4 internship, 1st Internship in 2013 with Advocate Samir Kumar Dutta at Alipurduar CJM Court, West Bengal. It was awesome but no stipend. (30 days)2nd Internship in 2014 with Assam Human Right Commission, It was complete time waste. No Stipend. (30 days)3rd Internship 2015 with Advocate Prasad Narayan Majumdar at ALipurduar CJM Court. No Stipend. (15 days)4th Internship in 2015 with Competition Commission of India, New Delhi. It was a excellent internship experience, literally a life time achievement. They gave me 10,000/- stipend for one month of internship. Learnt a lot of things, i,e., Case Analysis, Drafting, Writing Research paper etc..But awareness of internship is very less in college campus, irony is some 10th semester students are also not aware of internship.
Placement Experience :
I don't know if NEF do have a placement committee or not.but placements and job opportunities at NEF Law College are very poor, in last few years, some Hyderabad based LPO came to recruit and hired some of our seniors at very low packages.No Top Tier Law Firm yet visited college for campus recruitment.
College Events :
1. Freshers Nexus to Welcome New Students to NEF Law College, it is most excited and enjoyable event in the campus.2. Teachers Day Celebration.3. Farewell for passing out students.All the above listed events are managed and hosted by 7th semester students and funded by students themselves.1st semester students are exempted from Freshers Nexus donation.Passing out students are exempted from Farewell Party.Sadly, no convocations, no cultural fest, no inter college sports competition..
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structures are feasible, its 15,000 per semester excluding examination and enrollment fees but our junior fellow students have to pay 16,000 per semester excluding examination and enrollment fees.But examination fee is drastically increasing, it was 920 in 2012 but now in 2015 it is 3200. They are amending examination fee like anything, in few years it may touch 5 digit amount.Overall not so expensive as compared to top Law Schools in nation, being a complete private educational institution they offer minimal fee for their courses.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I do not have any loan against my course and I do not get any scholarship either.But Education Loan facility is available and students can avail it.But Scholarship is only available to students belongs to minority in the states.
Campus Life :
Campus life is not really too good neither too bad even. It is just like "okay".Gender ratio is really great there are many girls students in every courses.There are not so many extracurricular activities but Moot Court is there, senior students are chosen for moot court competition and final year students are taken to Legal AID campaign.
Hostel Facilities :
No College Hostel facility yet, so nothing to answer about mess food quality.But one will easily find a PG near by college at affordable price. But be aware of water supply, because at Guwahati water related problems are lot.***###Note for CollegeDunia.comYou provided wrong information in your website about NEF Law College,.1st College strength are not 14,000. very less..2nd LLB is not 4 years course. its 3 years course.3rd LLM is not 1 year course,its 2 years course.4th BA,LLB(Hons), BBA,LLB(Hons), B.Com,LLB(Hons) courses are missing.
Alumni/Alumna :
Very poor Alumni Network. I, however, managed to be in touch with few alumnus.4 Batches already passed out but there is no alumni meet or noting like official reunion. Thanks to Social Media, it helped me to find out some alumnus and really they are helpful.
Exam Structure :
Exam is conducted by Gauhati University but timing is horrible.All our counterparts got their vacations and their vacations get over too but we do wait for examination notifications.Our course is designed with semester exams and one can expect odd numbered semester exam in the month of January and even numbered semester exams in the month of August.But after exam hardly we use got 10-15 days vacations, so no opportunity at all for post exam internship.We have to break bar council rules and manage our internships during academic periods.
Faculty :
As far as the faculties are concerned, over all I'll give 1 star out of 5 Star, most of the faculties are female(not a problem though) and fresher, with very less teaching proficiency but some faculties are really awesome namely Korobi Mam, Anurekha Mam, Sibhani Mam, Kasturi Mam and few others.. I really feel going to college to hear their lectures, it is worthy.But for rest I feel its better to stay at hostel, but unfortunately we have attend classes for attendance purposes.
