Course Curriculum Overview :
In masters of Arts of social work in public health a student learns about human dignity and social justice. The curriculum suits the needs and conditions of our country while being at par with global trends and social work profession. Students are given a chance to engage with NGOs and social work to get a practical hang of the subject. The course offers specialization in community organisation and development practice, counselling, public health and subjects like that. It is semester based system and 2 semesters in each year.
Placement Experience :
In a country like India where there is 70% rural population, a career like social work in public health does wonders for the society. TISS offers working practically with filed assignments and NGOs which gives students a chance to put their knowledge to practical use.
College Events :
Students are often engage in field work which is great exposure for them to see the reality and work with it. There are several programs like Amulya Balpan run by the institute for the well being of certain categories of society. The college also organises workshops and seminars which is done by external guests who share their knowledge with students.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fees are very reasonable as compared to institutes who offer this level of education. The fees structure includes several charges like tuition fees, exam fees, lab charges, deposit etc. for it is in total Rs.31000 for each semester and in total Rs.124000 for 2 years.
Campus Life :
The college has all the amenities needed for like well facilitated classrooms, laboratories, computer lab, library, online library etc. In addition to this there is doctor’s availability in the institute for the students. The college collaborates with universities, institutions and groups in NER to strengthen teaching, research, and training.
Hostel Facilities :
There are 3 hostels for boys and girls, one in hatigaon with a capacity of 56 boys, another in rudali path with a capacity of 84 boys and one in shantipur with a capacity of 175 girls. The hostel infrastructure is well built and with all amenities like computer facilities and wifi.
Admission :
This is a 3 year master’s course and has 17 seats. Students must apply with the score of the entrance exam conducted by TISS which is a 100 mark test and based on those scores only students are granted admission however, 66% seats are reserved for north eastern students.
