Remarks :
The college is good overall and ha sa good campus life and good placement opportunities for all students. There are fests for all aspects like cultural, technical and management also for all round development of the individual and as a whole for society. But at the same time the curriculum can be much more diverse and industry and students inclusive for improving the overall technical abilities of students and again for improving the placement opportunities in future. More projects can be done with students along with professors and improve the teaching learning process.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is quite good but could have been much more diverse. The most recent industry related concepts could have been included to get more better industrial understanding giving us better opportunities to get better placement offers. There are 3 exams in each semester 1 st sessional exam ,the 2 nd sessional exam and the end semester exam and then 10 marks for teachers assessment. There are lab examination according to the course coordinator how he want to take exams and others. The industry visits are organised but according to me are not enough. The professors who are interested only arrange those but many don't. These factors affect the placement offers students get in the college.
Placement Experience :
There are very good companies such as. Dassault systems , Bajaj auto , ExxonMobil,Tata motors etc have visited our campus placement offers and took students with good salary packages. Generally there is a technical test and later interview for the placement procedure. Ther ware also internships available for students both campus and off campus. I have not availed any internship till now. The stipend is good around 10000 if you are intern. For other branches companies such as Amazon , samsung also come in campus placement.
College Events :
In the odd semester we celebrate the cultural festival of our college Aarohi. This fest has very good amount of footfall of people from Nagpur. Thousands of people attend it. All fests of college are of 3 days may it be cultural, technical or management. There are good pro shows in the evening of Aarohi which are the highlights of the event.Taking about the technical fest i.e. Axis is a very good event and is considered the best event in college which attracts lagra amount of school and College students from Nagpur and nearby cities.The guests attending the event are great personalities and it is great to listen them. The management fest Consortium that takes place in even sem after axis is the last fest of academic year of our college.Each of these events is organised by students of the college
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The college of ours provide various methods of payment of fees the best one is through sbi collect method in which provides payment through debit card and internet banking. The total college fee is 133200 rs in which 125000 rs tuition fees and rest include the library fee and sports fee and lab maintenance and others. No additional fees or charges are taken in order to secure admission in any course. The college provides proper transparency in fee breakdown for btech and all other Tuition fees -125000 Library fee-750 Registration fee-500 Student activities fee-1250 Sports fee-750 Internet fee-750 Training and placement-500 Etc For mtech fees is 70000 annual and other fees same as btech The fee is quite feasible as enough scholarship are available if you can not pay.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are enough scholarship opportunities in the college if your family income is below 5 lpa. There are both center and state scholarship opportunities if eligible. The education loan is also easily available from the campus branches of sbi and Canara Bank of required. I have opted for state government scholarship for my fee remission under mahadbt scheme for which eligiblity was family income below 8 lpa.
Campus Life :
Campus Life is really good and you get to make new friends from all over the country irrespective of which branch you are and other differences. Ther are 50% seats from other state quota so there are students from various parts of the country coming in one place and enjoy diversity. The gender ratio in our institute is not good one but still due to the reservation system girls get atleast 15% reservation in each of the department which has improved the ratio in department of mechanical and mining engineering drastically. There are many clubs inthe college such as drama club 'halla bol' and robotics club 'IV labs' and E cell as well and many other where students can follow their hobby or passion if they want. There are no difference as such In students on any grounds
Hostel Facilities :
Yes I have opted for hostels and few of the hostels are really good and new with brilliant facilities and infrastructure. There are total 14 hostels including the girls hostel. There is never shortage of water and no electricity cut unless very serious issue. There are TV rooms and sports rooms in almost all hostel and gym in few also. The bathroom and toilet in few old hostel are not good but the daily maintenance services is quite good. There is never a shortage of hostel rooms. Average rentals is about 6000-7000 per month including mess.
Alumni/Alumna :
There is a alumni association in our college which is quite active and does good amount of work for the betterment of the institute. Recently we had completed 60 years of our institute and our alumni have done quite some developments in our college that are commendable in infrastructure. The senior in the respective clubs helps their Junior a lot to learn new things and improve
Admission :
My JEE mains rank was the major factor that I had to choose this institute. The admission process of NITS is through online portal JOSAA through which I got admission here. It has a home state quota which helped me get the branch of mechanical engineering which would not have been possible in NITS of other states. Mechanical branch in VNIT is very good compared to other NITS. There is also one criteria for your respective 12 th boards for minimum 75% or top 20 percentile. Then you have to pay 35000 of your fees online after you accept the seat online and then confirm it by reaching the centre of confirmation. Later pay complete fee and take admission in the respective institute.
Faculty :
There are around 30 professors with assistant professor, associate professor and professor rank all included in my mechanical engineering branch. There are no lecturer in college only professor. There are close to 300 faculty members in total including all branches. Almost 95% of them are PhD graduates and most of them are above age of 40. The faculty ranked with professor post are really good and hold good expertise in their subjects. But many of them have never worked in a industry so they might not know enough about the technical part of industry. But still they are quite good and some know much about industry and help us grow.
