Remarks :
In simple words I had a wonderful experience at this institute, I feel very lucky I have got selected here, I am proud to be a part of the Fraternity.
Course Curriculum Overview :
As I was in BCT&CA (Specialization) our Course is very different from the regular generic program BHMCT, well in the first year we have almost the same syllabus with a very slight difference, we have to learn all the 4 basic core areas of the hotel which are Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B Service and Food Production. From the Second Year onwards we Focus on our Specialization which is Food Production wherein We learn the Intermediate Skills in cooking and arts apart from that we have various secondary subjects such as Computer skills, Hygiene, Environmental Science, French. etc After the Completion of the second year we have to go through an Industrial Exposure Training(Internship) at a 5 star hotel in order to get a first-hand experience of the industry where we work in various kitchens of the hotel, after the completion of IET we proceed with our Final Year where we learn Advanced Cookery, we are also trained in the Cruise Galley kitchen to get an experience of work onboard, we also participate in various National and State competitions of repute such as ACP, GICC, CateFete, World Skill India, WGSHA QUEST, M.S Ramaiah General Championship.etc which also helps to build our confidence.
Placement Experience :
I have already mentioned above about the internships which is for a duration of 17 weeks in top hotels in the country, after the completion of 2nd year. We have campus placements in the final year where top Hospitality Companies Recruit us such as Taj Group of Hotels, Oberoi, ITC Hotels, IHG, Leela Palace, Marriott, Accor, Hilton.etc and we have international Cruises such as Costa, P&O, Norwegian, Princess, M.S.C .etc I've got selected as a Management Trainee at Radisson BLU Hyderabad.
College Events :
Apart from our regular curriculum, we have various co Curricular activities, like celebrations of festivals wherein the students host events the major Festivals we celebrate are Christmas, Ganesh Chaturthi, Ramzan, Sankranthi, Lohri to name a few we also celebrate Days such as World Chefs Day, Republic Day, Independence Day.ect We participate in various National level competitions.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The entire Program fee costs 3 to 3 1/2 Lakhs, which can be paid semester wise, the payments is done by cheque and N.E.F.T usually, the fee is inclusive of the Books Provided, Uniforms our kitchen Kits. etc The Hostel fee is additional which also has to be paid semester wise.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The Government Provides Scholarships to the eligible students, well I did not opt for a scholarship.
Campus Life :
The Campus life is great we have one of the best facilities which include a Cruise Galley Kitchen,Ala Style Restaurant Kitchen, Advanced Training Kitchen, Quantity Training Kitchen, Basic Training Kitchen, Advanced Bakery and Patisserie, Chocolate Room, Garde Manger, 2 Training Restaurants, 1 Real-time Restaurant, Housekeeping and Front Office Labs, Computer Labs, Library, Cafeteria.etc . The students come from various parts of the country which helps students to connect to people beyond their boundaries, also helps in learning the culture of different regions of our country
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel is pretty good the rooms are spacious and the hostel is attached to the college. Each room is shared by 4 individuals, we have wifi connectivity for the research work, the food provided is delicious, since the college hostel is connected to the main road it is easy to move around, we have a metro station within 100 meters which is great.
Alumni/Alumna :
We have a very good Rapport with our seniors they guide us promptly in our careers we also consider them as our second teachers at our institute, in turn, we help our juniors similarly. We have our own alumini groups on Social media such as Facebook in order to stay connected.
Admission :
I always dreamt of being a chef since i was a kid, so I looked out for top colleges in India, there only a few colleges which provide specialization in kitchen, IIHMCA is one of them, so I inquired about the college online and visited it in the month of May 2017 After seeing the campus, interacting with the management, their placement record.etc and after comparing it with other institutes me and my parents were convinced with the college and we went further. There is a Common Entrance test Which was conducted followed by an interview after which i got selected.
Faculty :
The faculty In IIHMCA are Excellent who have been working here since a long time, they have a tremendous amount of industry experience, Few have worked in various cruise lines and provide us with tremendous amt of knowledge, they not only support us professionally but also personally when required as they look after us as their children and see the potential in us and know how to put it to the right use and guide us accordingly.
