All about IGIT Sarang

College is good but the place where college is situated is having communication issues. You have to depend on hostel foods only as there are no good hotels. The nearby town Talcher is 10km far but very much polluted. Near by station is also 9km far for which you dont have good transportation facilities.

As the college is autonomous institute we have two semesters and two internal exams per year. Syllabus is made in college itself so Course is moderate to hard. Research scope is quite less because the experiment setups are obsolete and not working properly. In masters you have to attend labs as most of the subjects are research based. Exams and Labs are enjoyable when you know the things.

Placements are good for B. Tech students but M. Tech students are not allowed in maximum recruitments. So if you are persuing Masters then prepare for competitive exams as you would get a lot of free time and can utilize them for fulfilling your dream Govt. jobs.

Every week there are some seminars and tech talks brachwise which you can attempt free of cost. Some good alumnis also visit college to give advices. HORIZON is the most important cultural festival for the whole college. Branchwise festivals are also there in which every branch is allowed to arrange fests and artists. Good artists like Gajendra Verma, Yaseer Desai have already came and made fests enjoyable.

As this is a state owoned college fees are less both for hostels and institution. But college fees is a bit high for self sustaining courses. Institute fee is generally around 35K to 40K per year and hostels fee is around 25K per year.

There are lots of scholarships for B. Tech students belonging to SC, ST categories like Prerana, Medhabruti etc. Also scholarships available for good students of unreserved category. For M. Tech if you admitted with a Valid GATE score you will get scholrship from AICTE, an amount of 12,400 per month.

There is a good gender ratio in every branch. Workshops and seminar are frequent in college on good topics and techniques. As students are allowed to stey away from external environment you will get enough time for yourself and not involved in external issues. Student from all Language, Religion, Race etc. are given equal preference.

Hostels are not provided to M. Tech students so i have to live in rented rooms. Even B. Tech student who got less marks are not allowed to stay in hostel if there are no vacant rooms. But good rooms are availabe near college in affordable price. Either you can cook or order food from mess in normal price.

There are a lot of good alumnis who are in very good position in industries and their life. Alumnis arevalso allowed to share their experiences and advices in seminars and in college website. Experience with college seniors is good when you are good as everybody deserve respect.

I appeared ojee and through ojee ranks i got selected in this college. You can also get an admission through GATE with a valid GATE score but have to appear OJEE to get admission in any state govt. college like this. No need to appear any interviews. If you are interested in persuing Masters and don't have any options then go for it.

Faculty are moderate but experienced and there are some temporary faculties also. All the faculties are atleast from NIT s. New faculties are good and friendly but old ones are a bit tough to handle.
