A college of dreams where every student aspire to be a part

Remarks :

Overall, SMIT is a good place to be. With teachers concerned not only about our academics but also with our health and extra-curricular performance.

Course Curriculum Overview :

We have around 6-7 subjects with 2-3 labs every semester. The exam pattern is common for all years with 50 internals and 50 externals. The curriculum is healthy with the focus being on learning and performing well be it in class or on the field or on the stage.

Placement Experience :

The placement is far above the average of this college with companies like Microsoft and Dell coming to pick our students. We have Wells Fargo and many such companies that offer high packages and quality placement. There is hardly any student who is left out. Also, the college is very encouraging in matters of internships and working in fields of interest.

College Events :

Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology has absolutely everything from a music club- The Chromatix to two dance club- Udaan and Illusion. We have our cultural events called Kaalrav during the month of February where we have renowned singers and artists from India performing. The technical fest called Tech Adrista where students showcase their projects or compete, be in coding, hackathon or Arduino competition. We also have TEDxSMIT every year, a literary club called The Reverbs which provides a platform for us to debate and voice our thoughts. We have Model United Nations ti promote healthy debates on political matters and many more.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure of SMIT is done either in lumpsum or in installments. The overall fees is 2 lakh 40 thousand excluding mess and hostel accommodation and 3 lakh 55 thousand including mess and hostel accommodation. This is for the ECE, Mechanical and Civil branches, the other branches have approximately the same figure.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Any student securing above 80% in 12th boards and maintaining 6 CGPA above has 20% fee concession throughout the 4 years of college, any student with 90% in boards gets 30% concession.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facilities are beyond good. The rooms are shared amongst two students and they have a private bathroom. The mess food is healthy and with many variations. We get non-veg on three nights, including fish, chicken, and egg. The rooms are well maintained and monitored by the hostel wardens. They are constantly renovated and cleaned as well.

Alumni/Alumna :

We recently had an event where our senior from a batch of 2001, which is 19 years ago visited us and shed light upon the current scenario and dwelled upon college memories. Along with him, we had connected with seniors from various other batches who along with their words of wisdom also showcased their talent via a performance.

Admission :

I had appeared for MAHE Entrance Test during my 12th. This exam is an entrance exam for admission into the three branches of Manipal University, which is the main branch in Manipal, Jaipur, and Sikkim. There are three exam attempts for every candidate, an opportunity to perform better.

Faculty :

The faculty of this college is varied, we have teachers from all the way south as well. The teachers have one thing in common though, which is all are hardworking, they are highly determined to ensure our thorough understanding of the subject. We have a teacher guardian system where a single teacher is allotted around 10-15 students. This allows them to provide more attention and they maintain direct communication with our parents informing them of our performance. The teachers are highly helpful and we can clear our doubts whenever required.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell is very active and well equipped to bring recruiters from diverse group of organisations. The pre final and final year students are allowed to sit for interview. The highlight this year for me was Mercedes Benz hiring a student from Mechanical Department giving a very high package. A good chunk of people get placed every year. I am also looking forward to placement opportunities on campus, I believe there'll be enough opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen this course because this course can help me learn both the coding and electronics part. Faculties are well qualified but sometimes they are not able to explain the things and sometimes they also avoid our doubt if we chok in the middle. We appear for three term exam in every 2 months. Some subjects are very difficult to pass because we are unable to understand them in class

Placement Experience:

After 5th semester, the college has on-campus internship options and after during 7th semester, you will be eligible to sit for campus placements. Many companies come for campus placement including IBM, NVIDIA, Deloitte, etc. PLacements for CSE, ECE, and EEE are very good. In 2023 highest placement was from EEE of 44 lakhs from NVIDIA. In Mechanical most of the students get PPO. For Civil, very least options are available. Usually, 80% of students get placed every year.

Placement Experience:

Several companies come for campus placement. Third years are elligible for summer internships and fourth years can get placement + Internship offer for the last semester internship. The college provides us with pre-placement training which is very helpful which I'm currently undergoing. The placement record of the college has been satisfactory till now. We also get sessions from alumnus who tell us their experience and guide us through their experience. The placement drives can be improved hope for more companies and more opportunities to be given to every students.
