Remarks :
Not very happy with the college, but I don't regret being here either. Our college has some of the finest faculties in Chhattisgarh. Infrastructure is fine, but campus seems very boring and empty. If few more cultural events are added, students can get energised.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I didn't really like the course curriculum & the exam pattern. It was after entering the 2n year of my college when I realized that our syllabus was old & wasn't actually what a computer science student needs at today's date. Also there is a vast syllabus to be covered in a very short duration of semester time, due to which students are not able to learn it with interest. Exam structure is fine, although we aren't given much preparation leave to cover the entire syllabus. Most of the time, students are not satisfied with the marks they're given, which makes us doubt on university's teachers.
Placement Experience :
Though I'm in 2nd year now, I can't be very sure about the internships and stipends. But in the past records of our college I've seen that only a few companies come in our college for placements. Also, the average salary is no more than 3 lakhs, which is embarrassing. College doesn't give much support in providing internships, students have to prepare on their own most of the times.
College Events :
There are very few events celebrated in our college. One main annual celebration of the college is OJAS, which is held during winters every year. Other events include various technical & bon-technical workshops organised by IEEE Student branch, Technohub, Astro club, clicks club.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure of our college is not very expensive as compared to IITs NITs & other colleges. While it might be hard for poor families to afford the fees, middle class families can normally afford it.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As I secured 85th rank in CGPET 2018, I was given a scholarship by state government through which I could complete my 4-year graduation for free. But the terms & conditions said it'll be applicable only for those students whose parents annual income was less than 6 lakhs per annum. Since my parents' income was a slight more than 6 lakhs, I wasn't given the scholarship, which made me disappointed. According to me, a student's achievement should not be judged with his parents income.
Campus Life :
Labs are just fine. Sometimes they are not in good & working condition. Also, very few lab incharges pay proper attention to their labs. Sports activities in our college are almost negligible. Students rarely get to hear about any sports activities.
Alumni/Alumna :
Till date I haven't been able to gain much profit of the alumni network. Our seniors are helpful, but there's very less interaction among juniors and seniors. We rarely get to hear about alumnus & alumni network in college.
Admission :
I cleared CGPET exam in 2018 with 85 rank (general) & 16 according OBC ranking. Then I was called for counselling where I got verified my documents such as 10th and 12th class marksheets, Aadhar card, domicile certificate, caste certificate, etc. and submitted their photocopies. Then I filled my college and branch of my choice online, where I was allotted BIT Durg. computer science and engineering in the first round itself.
Faculty :
Our faculty is good, knowledgeable people who are always ready to help their students & to solve their problems. Some of them aren't quite supporting, but can be said good as a whole. But at the same time, most of them still focus on class notes and assignments than projects & trainings. Also, due to shortage of timw, they skip much of the syllabus in classroom, which we have to prepare on our own at last.
