Remarks
The campus though small was well managed. The infrastructure and facility provided was good.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus were at par with other universities. We had three lab classes per week. The second year was entirely devoted for project related to research work/ industry. The exams were conducted in the well defined manner. We had two test and semester examination.
Placement Experience
The training and placement of the college was good but we as master's students didn't get many chances to sit for placement test. But I was lucky enough to get an internship in Kolkata based IT company.
College Events
The college holds an annual event called Kaalrav. It's a cultural fest open to all colleges in India which last for three days. From cultural to sports to rock band performing. there are so many events to take part in. It gathers a huge crowd with participation from colleges in Sikkim and west Bengal. Apart from this, I every department has their student club which organizes fest at departmental level.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I did Master programme and that too with some subsidy since I had got government quota. So the annual fee was around one lac fifty thousand rupees. Apart from that we had to pay Rs1000/- exam related fees. The caution deposit was Rs5000/- which was refunded later.
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't take education loan but I got scholarship from Govt of Sikkim. We had to submit the nomination form and a fixed amount was granted as scholarship.
Campus Life
The college is situated at a very good location with river Teesta flowing on one side. The campus was very clean and green with mango grooves. We had almost equal number of boys and girls. The labs could be used after the normal hours. The departmental clubs would organize workshops and seminar by the students for the students.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fee was around Rs 30000/- per year. The hostel facility is very good. Two students share a room. The room has attached bathroom with big almirah and study table and chair. The hostel had water cooler at each floor. We had separate TV area with canteen space. Also we had a common area with few gym equipments like treadmill, table tennis.
Alumni/Alumna
Being a master's student I can't really comment on this. The number of students in Master's degree were less so we didn't have strong alumni network.
Admission
After completion of my BE I wanted to do Master's programme. So I had applied in SMIT. They had called for entrance test and I cleared that. At the same time I had also applied for seat Through Government Quota. Luckily I got nominated from the government and I was eligible for scholarship.
Faculty
Most of the faculty Members were holding Master's degree and few were pursuing fulltime/part time PhD. Our classes were taken by all senior and experienced faculty members. The labs assignments was mostly left on us to solve and we had no clue how to do those. So internet came to our rescue.
