Remarks :
At first, it's a bit difficult to cope up with the environment that the college provides. But soon you will fall in love with it. We have great seniors, juniors and friends. Teachers are good in their way too. One thing that has consolidated through the years is the senior-junior relationship among the students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The Course Curriculum is up to date. The exam structure follows MAKAUT pattern that has 10 marks for MCQs, 15 marks for 3 short answer questions and 45 marks for 3 long answer questions. We have internal exams or mid terms of 30 marks.
Placement Experience :
Placements and job opportunities are very poor. If you want an engineering degree with less expenses, then it's for you. You can get jobs at off campus placement drives though. But you can't expect college to give you anything.
College Events :
Independence Day, Freshers, Teachers Day, Republic Day, Saraswati Puja, Annual Fest, Farewell are the mandatory events that are celebrated every year. But sometimes, blood donation camps, tobacco awareness program or a little film festival is also celebrated.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
It's very feasible. For Computer Science department, the fees is 7200 per semester and for the other departments, it is 4200. As it is a government college, you get cheap education here. So if you secure a good rank, you can get admission in this college.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I don't know much about scholarships. But I have heard about the tuition fee waiver. Some students from economically weaker backgrounds get their tuition fees waivered. Minorities also get the minority scholarships. There are two or three more. I don't remember.
Campus Life :
Extracurricular activities are fun. We have Saraswati Puja and Annual Fest that have a lot of events like photography contest, football, cricket, ramp walk, coding contest, debate, quiz and so on. Labs are more or less well equipped.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel is only for boys. It has got a lot of facilities. Water, electricity, food, WiFi, playgrounds, gardens, and proper lodging. It gives food and accommodation at a very feasible rate. But there is no hostel for girls.
Alumni/Alumna :
One of the strongest things that our college has is the alumni network. We have a great relationship with our seniors. Last year, we arranged a reunion and almost 5000 of our seniors attended it. We had a really great 2 days fun with them. They care about the college and they are very helpful.
Admission :
I got admission in this college through WBJEE, West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. I took the exam and secured a rank. Through 3 rounds of counselling and 1 round of decentralized counselling, I got allotted this college as per my WBJEE rank.
Faculty :
In every department, the faculty is very good. They are caring and helpful. We have a great relationship with most of them. Although some teachers are involved in lobbying against some others, they are academically good. They never compromise with our studies.
