Remarks :
I got selected in KIIT Bhubaneswar and VIT Bhopal but as the fees were very high and did not want to go out in this pandemic situation so I decided to take admission in my home state got admitted in Government College of Engineering and textile technology, Berhampore under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT). I took admission in Computer Science and engineering branch. I got admission in the reserved Quota (SC) quota. My GMR was 24653 and SC quota rank was 1769. The criteria for taking admission in this college is based on WBJEE rank and state domicile is a must for taking admission in any government college under MAKAUT in West Bengal. The candidate should be a minimum of 17 years old. The WBJEE was conducted in February 2020 and the counseling process was conducted during September and October 2020. And the Decentralized part was conducted during December 2020.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I always had a passion to go to the software industry side that's why I chose Computer Science and engineering branch to do my B.Tech degree. There are 12 faculty members in the CSE department and there are 40 students per year. The faculty is mixed with M.Tech and Ph.D. members. The faculty here are very friendly and interactive. They teach everything from scratch. They took a regular test to keep track of our studies and also give various assignments. We can clarify any of our queries at any time through a call or WhatsApp message. There are 4 internal exams that carry CA marks (Continuous Assessment) and 2-semester exams in a year. The difficulty level is moderate and any sincere and hardworking student can pass this exam with good marks.
Placement Experience :
As I am in my first year so I don't know much about the campus placements. But as heard from the seniors, the highest package offered was Rs - 20 Lakh per annum. The number of companies visited was 18 as heard from my seniors.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For Computer Science And Engineering branch, the fees are Rs - 130000 per year and for Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Textile Technology, the fees is 6500 per year. Comming to hostel fees the seat rent is Rs - 50 per month and electricity is Rs - 30 per month. The hostel can accommodate 100 students.
Campus Life :
The campus is having a 24X7 high-speed internet connection. The campus has IP-based Surveillance cameras for security and the air-conditioned auditorium is one of the main attractions of the college. The name of the techno-cultural fest of our college is ALFRESCO. Saraswati Puja has been a keen event to be organized by the Government College of Engineering And Textile Technology, Berhampore. The two days of the Saraswati puja celebration include various college programs, cultural events, etc. The college library offers a wide range of Science and Technological books and journals. The library is opened on all working days except on Sundays and general holidays. Various sports activites like football, cricket, etc are done in college. Apart from this various other events like gaming events where various games like COD or BGMI are played. There are many clubs like a coding club, dance club, music club, etc. One can take part in these clubs and interact with other students.
