Review of Government College of engineering and textile technology Berhampore

Remarks :

There is 2 types of admission over here. For higher secondary students is jee main and for diploma students jelet examination. I have got entry through jelet at 2nd year. There is around 11 sits in this course for this reason the rank must be very low to get selected. The application process is handled by joint entrance board. If you got admission then the fees are very much negotiable because its a government college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

B.Tech in textile technology is a very future proof course for getting a job in the textile industry and I liked the course from the very beginning, that's why I chose the course. There are very good faculties present in the college (About 9-10 faculties in every Department) and the number of students is about 60 in every department in every year.Every faculty are M.Tech qualified and most of them are Doctorates. Their teaching quality is very good, they explain the topic very simply and thoroughly so that everyone can understand the topic. There are 4 internal theory exams and 1 lab exam in each semester. If everyone classes regularly then they can easily pass the examination.

Internships Opportunities :

The companies were Jayashree textile, TCS, Vardhman textile, and the roles were quality control, spinning, or dyeing worker etc. The projects were of making a fabric and dye it in a colour and print it with some designes and such like that.

Placement Experience :

From 3rd year, students become eligible for campus placements. Vardhaman textile, TCS, Welspun India, jayashree textile are the companies that visited the college and they made about 50 offers. The highest package given was 20000/month and the average was 15000/month. 85% of students got placements from this college last year. My plan is to join a company after getting the degree to gain experience and then I will do M.BA to gain knowledge for business.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees are pretty good and also affordable for the course. It's 3000/year and at the time of admission, the college takes 6000 for admission fees. Every student who scores 75% in a year, gets a scholarship for this. In the 3rd year and 4th year, many students get jobs from college campuses.

Campus Life :

There happens both Annual fest, Tech Fest, and Teachers day celebrations. Tech fest takes place in August and Annual Fest takes place in April. The library stock is very good. In each semester, students can pick books for their semester subjects. The classrooms are very good, clean and healthy and there are no issues of suffocation or such like that. Annual sports happens every year in January/February. Also, there happens many cultural programs, blood donation camps, tree plantation programs etc. where students participate and for this, they get certificates also.

College was good in terms of studies and many more. But now it fails in giving placement. Most of the students are still unemployed. Only 30% of the students are placed from college. Others have to find there own jobs.
