One of the best college now

Remarks :

I have only mixed reviews for the institute considering the facilities. Scenario is entirely different now. College has a brand new campus. All the problems that existed with respect to food, hostel facilities, labs etc.everything is cleared now.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Curriculum was same as NIT Trichy and was sufficient for that time. In each Semester there will be two Cycle teats conducted (each for 20 marks). There will be Lab exams towards the end of Semester (carries 10 marks). Passing lab exams is must. Semester exams for 50 marks will be conducted during November (in Odd Sem) and April ( in even Sem)

Placement Experience :

Placement was decent. There were many niche companies coming in but taking people in small number. Since the College strength itself was small (only 100 per batch back then), end of year it was a good number that got placed.

College Events :

Every department celebrated their own techno cultural events. Most part of the even sem is filled with fests and other events. Institute day was celebrated every August. Now, the format and dates may have changed.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It was 85k per year (including Mess fee). Now, I think it's tripled. However, now there are concessions given for Students from Economicaly Weaker Sections. One may check the institute Website for updated fee structure.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any. I haven't availed any.

Campus Life :

Sports days are conducted every year. College has several other technical and cultural clubs where one can join and attend relevant events conducted nation wide. All the labs are newly built now. We used to have small labs only in a transit campus.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yew, there is a alumni network. Every year around September end, Alumni meets happen. There is usually a active participation that is realised. Alumni are also invited to host special guest lectures.

Admission :

I have appeared for AIEEE (now JEE-Main) in Apr 2012. After the results were published (in May), I have applied for Online counseling that was conducted around June. While applying for counseling, I had to fill the choice of our colleges and courses (all NITs and some other Centrally funded institutes were participating in the counselling). Based on our ranks, the seats are alloted in several rounds (best possible seat considering the rank and choice of college-course). I got EEE in NIT Puducherry in the first round. I confirmed the seat and appeared in person to the Nearly Reporting centre to pay the initial fee(which to me was NIT Puducherry itself). Payment of fee was mandatory to confirm the seat. We must appear in person to the reporting centre if we are happy with the allotment in a given round within a stipulated time which was usually a 4 to 5 days. When not appeared, allotment will be cancelled and one has to wait for next round when the better options (ONLY IF AVAILABLE) will be allotted. Candidates will not be considered for any lesser options which they have already denied. Please note that the initial fee that we pay to confirm the seat is our first semester fee (not including Mess fee). With seats confirmed, I started attending classes, which commenced in Mid July.

Faculty :

All the Regular faculties hold PhD. There were ad-hoc faculties taking some papers who are PhD or Post graduates from well known institutes. There is a very good student faculty ratio. I liked the faculties.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of my course is pretty easy to cope up with , so that u get more time to prepare for other exams. Curriculum is prepared in such a way that it makes u ready to appear for gate and other similar exams. Provide more technical knowlegde related to subjects mentioned in the gate syllabus. There are 2 class test exams and then one final semester exam.

Placement Experience:

The college gives good placements for mostly all of the branches and you can get an average package of 12 lakh per annum. Getting a placement in civil might be difficult unless you study hard and do some good internships. Mechanical and computer science has good placements compared to other branches
