About NIT MEGHALAYA

Overall in my opinion the institute is very good. Its faculty members are very good, infrastructure is fine. It doesn't have permanent campus though its way much better than many other colleges. Most wonderful thing which I like most is weather of Shillong where our college is, its wonderful. In my opinion its a wise decision to study here if you get to take admission.

In the first semester, almost 75% of the syllabus is from the senior secondary syllabus but the level is high. Its interesting to co-relate things already studied with reality and apply those concepts in the laboratory and projects. We have exams two times in a semester mid-term and end-term of 50 and 100 marks respectively. Apart from them, every course has two class tests and two assignments of 15 and 10 marks each respectively. Total marks for each subject are 200. And here relative grading is showed on the progress report.

Placement scenario of the Institute is above average. Since, being a new institute it takes time to establish the quality in education, facilities, infrastructure to attract the companies to come to the college and select the students. But after all these problems due to hardwork of faculties and students every year we get good placement stats. From last 3-5 years the average package is 5-7 lpa, and highest package varies between 14-18 lpa. College doesn't provide any internship but gives the opportunity to eligible students to get those.

In our college there are two main events. Cultural fest SHISHIR and technical fest COGNITIA. Apart from these we have fresher's party, national festivals etc. COGNITIA have many technical events in which the most exciting is Robotics which have 7 events. It is organised on the last week of September. Roborumble is the most wonderful and exciting event of the fest. There are many departmental events, project events to take part in. SHISHIR is organised in Feb month. It's very exciting and most awaited. Its fabulous and have many events as fashion show, solo dance,solo singing, group dance,group singing, solo performance etc. Its wonderful fest all of us enjoy it too much.

Like other NITs our college also have a two fee structures one is tuition fee and other is hostel and mess fee. Tuition fee is 62,000 Rs per semester and hostel fee is 26,500 Rs per semester. SC and ST students are free from tuition fee but they have to pay hostel fee. Economically weak Gen students are also waived by their tuition fee but they have to pay the whole amount at the time of admission and will get back their tuition fee after 1st semester. Its very feasible hostel facilities are though good enough and food is great for non-veg people though veg food is also fine.

If you are economically weak then you have a very good opportunity to waive your tuition fee. You will need income certificate of your father and sone other documents. If you are not eligible for fee waiver don't be sad you have many other scholarships available at National Scholarship Portal. You will get them what you have to do is always check your mailbox for the mails from college office.

In our college we different clubs for different activities. We have Robotics Club, Music Club, Coding Club, Sports Club, Literature Club, Design Club, Marketing Club etc. These are formed for different activities apart from studies for the all round development of the students. These clubs help students in different way to make them good in different streams from the placement point of view as well as from the engineering point of view. There are many sports events organised at different times and give students a chance to prove them for higher level.

Yup I'm a hosteller. Hostel facilities here are good enough and better from many other NITs. Hostel Infrastructure is good. There are single rooms, double rooms, triple rooms and quadruple rooms. You might be lucky enough to get a single room like me. You will get great food if you are non-veg otherwise you will gonna miss your mother's hand food. We have WiFi networks in the hostel for 24 hrs of max speed of 2-5mbps. We have 24 hrs electricity and water. In bonus you will get the scenic beauty of nature from the balcony of your room.

Senior students unlike the stories we hear or in movies we see are very good and helpful. They always help us and motivate us to do great things and achieve higher. They organise workshops for different activities as robotics, coding, designing, music etc to make us perfect. Alumni network is helpful in giving us information about the opportunities we can get in the near future and how to grab them as the competition is increasing.

NIT Meghalaya being one of the Institute of National Importance is a prestigious college. Like all other NITs, it takes admission through JoSSA and CSAB. After scoring good marks in JEE-Mains one can get admission here.

Being an Institute of National Importance our college has well-qualified and well-educated faculties. They make every concept simple and funny, easy to understand and to apply them in practical application. Almost 100% of the faculty members are from IITs. They are very much co-operative whenever you go to them having any doubt in studies. They make every student learn and apply the knowledge in practical application.
