The placement scenario at CUSAT is better for branches like CS, IT, and Ship Building but very bad for branches like Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical. The institute hasn’t been releasing the official figures for a long time now so the following data is derived from media reports.

As per the media sources, out of 43 BTech (Naval Architecture and Ship Building) students, 41 were placed during 2023 placements. The highest and average package of the same was recorded at INR 17.3 LPA and INR 8.3 LPA, respectively. A total of 150 companies visited for BTech placements and selected 505 students. The highest package and average package for BTech stood at INR 25 LPA and INR 5.88 LPA, respectively.

One of my friends studies in the School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), so I will cover all the branches of the School of Engineering.

Civil Engineering: There is not 100% placement. Only half of it gets placed in companies like TCS, Byju’s, which are not core companies. KITCO once arrived for campus recruitment in CUSAT but didn’t select Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical Engineering students get placed in companies like TCS, Byju’s, etc. Some core companies come such as CEAT, L&T, but students hardly get recruited in them. In the 100 students batch, only 10-15 students get placed.

Electrical Engineering and EC students also didn’t get good placement, just like Mechanical and Civil Engineering students. Except for Ship Technology, CS, Safety and Fire, IT, all the main branches of engineering give placements to only 15% of the students.

Out of 40 students only 15 students get placed, in which 90% of students do not get into core companies.

Therefore, the placement record of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is not good. So if you are only enrolling in CUSAT to get good placements, then it would not be a good idea.
