A close friend of mine completed her MTech from NIT Rourkela and shared her overall experience of time spent at the institute

  • NIT Rourkela has a massive and beautiful campus with a plethora of facilities like swimming pools, night canteens, day canteen, tea stalls, playgrounds, basketball arena, volleyball areas, and badminton courts in each hostel.
  • NIT Rourkela has a hardworking placement cell that not only brings in some of the best recruiters but also trains the students well for the placement season. Students receive excellent offers in both core and non-core placements.
  • NIT Rourkela has a healthy competitive environment that fuels the students’ passion to study harder. They are aware of being a part of the top 5 NITs and are ready to showcase their knowledge and skills to prove their worth.
  • The accommodation facilities provided to NIT Rourkela students are great. Students are allotted both double and single occupancy rooms, with mess and other facilities.

NIT Rourkela students experience a smooth campus life and most of their needs are taken care of.

Life at NIT Rourkela is really good. They have a huge campus which is green and clean which provides a healthy educational environment. Unlike many other institutions, NIT Rourkela provides you with much flexibility considering hostel timings. The curfew time for students is around 11 PM. You have night canteens in every hostel, readily available to cater till 2 in the morning.

Hostels are clean and initially double seated but by final year students get single occupancy rooms. The whole campus is wifi enabled. The mess food is healthy and hygienic. The student crow is diverse thus you get to learn about other cultures as well.

Extracurricular activities such as swimming, gym, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, cricket, etc. are accessed by students. You have many clubs to take part in and enhance your skills. Fests are held throughout the year.

Lastly there are also some things you need to get adjusted to like the climate, which is extreme. The mess food will take time to get used to, especially if you are an outstation student. Rules are strictly followed and maintaining a 75% attendance is a must, skipping which you will not be allowed to sit for the exam.

Overall life at NIT Rourkela is energetic where you will learn many new things and by the end you will transform into a well adjusted individual.
