Here is a comparative analysis between NIT Silchar and IIIT Guwahati based on some common aspects

Location : IIIT Guwahati is a clear winner in this aspect as it enjoys several location advantages in contrast to the remotely located Silchar.
Infrastructure : NIT Silchar gave an edge in this aspect to IIIT Guwahati. It has excellent sports facilities that are lacking in IIT Guwahati.
Placements : NIT Silchar's highest package stood at INR 13.58 LPA while IIIT Guwahati's average package stood at INR 15.34 LPA. Clearly, IIIT Guwahati is better than NIT Silchar.
Fees : NIT Silchar fees yearly fee is around 1.55 Lakhs and IIIT Guwahati's yearly fee is around 2,55,000

Having friends studying at both the institutions, I can say that IIIT Guwahati is a new college and this college is outside the city. Both IIIT Guwahati and NIT Silchar are good in their own ways.

IIIT Guwahati is a little expensive as compared to NIT.
The placements at IIIT Guwahati are good. But it is advisable to take NIT Silchar as your option if you have interest in electronics.
If you are only interested in the CSE branch then you can go for IIIT Guwahati instead.
At NIT Silchar major IT companies like Microsoft visit the campus for placements.
Most of the companies allow ECE students to sit for placements.
You will get more opportunities at NIT Silchar than at IIIT Guwahati. Also, NIT Silchar has got better infrastructure than IIIT Guwahati.
The college has got better sports facilities, better hostel facilities.
