Which is better: IIT Mandi CSE, Bits Pilani, or Pilani Campus CS?
This might be a hard choice. You have to think deeply and make a tough decision while choosing between any of these colleges.
IIT Mandi
- It is an IIT Brand for which you have worked hard and studied for around 2 years to be known as an IITian.
- All the faculty at IIT Mandi are themselves from IIT with a Ph.D. degree.
- The infrastructure of IIT Mandi is excellent.
- Also, the hostel life is quite good with a standard living lifestyle.
BITS Pilani
- It is one of the excellent colleges in India with developed culture and with a good environmental reputation
- The alumni are quite good
- Many reputed companies visit the campus for placement drives.
- The college provides a decent and a good salary average of 12 LPA, especially for the department of CSE.

Even if you intend to further research and hold the IIT tag, Mandi is a good alternative. Anyway, BITS is a decent choice, but for the rest of your life, you will miss the IIT tag. In the end, it will be your decision which college you want to opt for or go with.
I'm about to pursue my B.Tech from MSIT (CSE). I've heard that people in IPU don't get time to pursue other stuff like programming and other hobbies. Is it true?
One of my friends is a final year student at MAIT - IT. And here is some statistics provided by him, which I think will clear your doubts.
- Several students from MSIT, more than even a 100, are seen to regularly participate in online coding contests. You check on Codechef to find out the ratings, participants, and various similar information. Apart from that, students actively participate in various other platforms like TopCoder, SPOJ, Codeforce, HackerRank, and more. MAIT has many great programmers.
- You will encounter many such individuals on campus who are preparing for examinations like GRE, GATE, CAT, and more.
- The same students are also involved in several clubs and societies, besides initiating blueprints of their own startup. This is despite managing above 80% academically.
- Students also engage in sports like football, cricket, badminton, and various others.
You can have hobbies and maintain your academic profile side by side. It depends on whether or not you are interested in accomplishing it.
How good is PEC Chandigarh for CSE?
The CSE department at PEC Chandigarh has a great faculty, well-established infrastructure, and excellent placements. Many of my friends have left NSIT for PEC. The environment is cordial and accepting in PEC.
CSE like ECE and Electrical, attract software companies that provide students with immense options to choose from. Core companies also take part in PEC Chandigarh’s placement program.
Companies like Arcesium, Amazon, GS, SanDisk, etc. offered students a salary package of 34 LPA. Though very few students are offered an amount like this.

A large number of companies participating in the placement program in PEC have made it better than other colleges in the region, even NITs, second only to IITs, BITS Pilani and DTU.
PEC Chandigarh is a highly recommended college to pursue CSE for a career ahead.
What books do I have to take to BIET Jhansi for CSE?
At BIET Jhansi, you will be most likely to learn subjects that have no connection with Computer Engineering. It will include subjects like C language and its basics. But if you have any basic knowledge of any of these programming languages like C, C++, Java then there’s nothing to worry about.
- If you want to read something, then you should try out Pointers in C. This one is definitely worth it and will provide you with valuable information related to your syllabus.
- There is a departmental library where you can find many books related to your syllabus and subjects.
- You can also manage to find PDF files that are available online for free.
- An online library is also available at BIET Jhansi where you can find more than 200 books of every genre ranging from romance, thriller to personality development with multiple copies available for each book. These books will be enough for you to read in your free time according to your interests and gain more knowledge.
Don't carry any such book as there are plenty of books available in the departmental library for every requirement. Also, with an online library, you will find books on every genre including your subjects books too.
Does NITRaipur CSE or NIT Durgapur CSE have good placements?
CS certainly holds more importance compared to IT in all the reputed engineering institutes irrespective of everything else.
IT at NIT Raipur is a good enough option to choose especially because of its HOD. He is very sincere and too much dedicated to the students and their well-being. Unlike many other departments and colleges of our country, he takes a special interest and personally looks into every student’s growth and academic performance. Starting from the appointment of the teachers for the various subjects to the handling of the detention lists, he does it all.
Moreover, the faculty here at NIT Raipur is overall a young group of teachers, which basically means they are way more enthusiastic and energetic. A couple of teachers from other departments also take a few subjects here at times.
Even the placements are quite well known here and although placements eventually depend on your throughout performance and scores. The following table shows the placement statistics of both institutions:

The environment offered to all the first years is much protected and they strictly follow a zero ragging policy. Seniors here are too welcome and supportive which ensures that all the students feel absolutely safe and secure.
Is CSE good at SRM Sonepat?
SRM Sonepat is still in its developing phase. You won’t get your money’s worth there. There are only 3 B.Tech batches that have passed out. Most placement offers are either from the marketing sector or business analysts. Just 5% of the students get job offers in core sectors of their specific streams but with a very low package.
- The faculty is also not that good. You can get better teachers even in certain coaching institutes where your total expense can climb up to only 6-10k for a valuable cause.
- You can also get various other colleges at almost the same fees, such as HMR, LPU, AMITY, SHARDA, JAYEEE, SRM Chennai, VIT, and several others. They might charge you more than the average amount, but you will be provided better faculty and facilities. The study environment in SRM Sonepat is not good neither is the student crowd.
- The Civil and Mechanical branches have acquired nearly zero placement (except only a handful of 2–3 students) for the past couple of years. The students who pass out are mostly offered jobs that are not related to their actual branch.
So, it will be better if you don’t keep SRM Sonepat as one of your options.
Which is better for CSE: Amity University Noida or Amity University Lucknow?
Amity Noida is better for CSE. It is the oldest campus and offers better facilities. The placement scenario for CSE is comparably better at Amity Noida. Major industry giants such as Microsoft, Accenture, IBM, L&T Infotech, etc. take part in the campus drive. Amity Noida placement highlights show the average package for CSE to be around INR 5 LPA. While the highest CTC offered goes up to INR 26 LPA.
Which is best, ECE at NIT Srinagar or CS in HBTI Kanpur?
Considering this question, the first criteria are always the student’s preferences. According to that, they should choose the colleges, either NIT Srinagar or HBTI Kanpur.
NIT Srinagar is a reputed institute; additionally, HBTU is also an ancient and esteemed institute. The new Vice-Chancellor of the second one is completely dedicated to institutional development, and the institute is developing radically over the past few years.
Besides, if you consider the placement facts, then CSE is just edged that ECE regarding the CTC. But, ECE also has several opportunities in both Government and private sectors. It is also quite close considering the placements facts to CSE because IT companies also allow ECE students to sit in the recruitment process.

Another important thing that you may consider is that location is which institute is nearer to your home.
So, it can be concluded that both of these institutes are equally good. One of my friends was a former student of HBTU, so he was quite partial to his institute, as he studied there, so he knew better.
From the year 2018, to get admission to HBTU, the student has to qualify 12th standard board exam from UP, or their parents must belong to the UP domicile.
Which is better in terms of academics for CSE, placement, fee and location, NIT Arunachal, NIT Silchar or PEC Chandigarh?
My sister is an alumnus of NIT Arunachal Pradesh and has also visited NIT Silchar several times. As per her experience, the preference order to follow while making a choice between these institutes should be
- NIT Silchar > NIT Arunachal Pradesh>PEC
The reason I placed NIT Silchar first is because it has better rankings, and even the connectivity issues have been resolved. One can now reach Silchar by road, train and via air. This has improved the placement scenario to a great extent.
How is the faculty of IIEST’s CST department? Is it worth joining over Jadavpur’s IT or IIIT Allahabad/BITS Pilani’s ECE?
The IT courses at IIIT Allahabad are top-notch unlike CSE at BITS, Pilani’s. As CSE and IT are different courses and since you say that college doesn't matter to you it comes down to choosing between the subjects. IIEST Shibpur is doing great too in its infrastructure; placements and alumni base. The CST department has done great in the field of placements with 90% student placements in IIEST Shibpur. The highest was about 48 LPA from DirectI and the average package was around 8 LPA.

In short CSE deals with the scientific study of computers and its research applications but IT deals with the industrial applications of the same science.
