Which IIIT should I choose for CS/IT, Gwalior, Kota, Vadodara or Lucknow?
IIITM-Gwalior is the best choice to opt and if you are getting it, grab the opportunity. It is the oldest IIT of India with its own campus spread over 160+ acres and is totally funded by MHRD. The institute has a decent placement with the average package for M.Tech was around 10.5 LPA. In MBA, the highest was 15 LPA.
If you're not getting IIIT Gwalior, then the order should be as follows: IIIT Lucknow > IIIT Vadodara > IIIT Kota.
IIIT Lucknow was recently established and is making good progress and the placement records are good. If one has to choose between IIIT- Kota or IIIT- Vadodara or IIIT- Lucknow, choose IIIT-Lucknow any day!
IIIT Vadodara doesn’t own a permanent campus but it is known for its coding culture and the placement statistics are far better. Also, final-year students do get an opportunity for an internship to work in Amazon.

If you make a comparison between IIIT Vadodara and IIIT Kota, I would consider every aspect that essentially includes vital factors like the faculty, study/work-environment, etc., and having experienced the best of all of that's mentioned.
All in all, it is recommended that you definitely go for IIIT Vadodara. The faculty here is pretty good and DAIICT is the mentor institute. You simply cannot say NO to a place that comes with such a fine faculty. Other than that, the choice is yours as only you will know what's best for you.
Which is better, metallurgy at MNIT Jaipur or CSE at IIIT Kota, IIIT Vadodara?
I personally believe that the upcoming future will be a more tech-savvy and digital world. So, going for CSE/IT is an evergreen choice. And is better than metallurgy engineering.
- In my point of view, you should start from the bottom line i.e., start from NITs rather than IIITs.
- Even some NITs in the north-east, like NIT Meghalaya, NIT Silchar, and NIT Agartala are good enough for fields such as CSE/IT.
- If not, then go for the IIIT colleges which are fully government-funded.
If there is no particular interest and just want a decent job in the future then choose CSE at IIIT Vadodara.
However, on the other hand, IIIT Kota is facing too many issues from faculties.
- There are hardly one or two teachers with a research background. As an outcome of this what you will study will not have minute concepts it would be just theoretical knowledge from the books.
- Though being good in coding but that just doesn't justify being in engineering college.
- The college Atmosphere here is not good.
Hence if you are getting IIIT Kota CSE then you might also be getting some other good NITs and IIITs prefer them, else you will regret it if you are willing to achieve something bigger in life.
Which is better, IIIT Dharwad for CSE or IIIT Vadodara for IT?
My brother chose IIIT Vadodara for his IT and he is full of admiration for the institute. The record of placements of IIIT Vadodara is good and it also offers decent packages to the students.
The coding culture of IIIT Vadodara is also very reputed and the location is also well-liked by the students. Every institute will have its pros and cons so it is entirely up to you. Do not get influenced by the reviews and try to decide on your own. Take advice as well if you want to.
In 2020, around 30 recruiters visited IIIT Vadodara and 102 placement offers were made to the students. The highest package offered was INR 43.5 LPA, the average salary was INR 13 LPA. I have friends from both IIIT Vadodara and SGSITS Indore, and here is what they have to say about their CSE courses.
- IIIT Vadodara is an Institute of National Importance and has been recognized under national institutes, while on the other hand, SGSITS Indore is apparently a State Level College. That clearly means CSE in IIIT Vadodara will unarguably be better than the CS department in SGSITS, Indore. Having said that, IIIT Vadodara also has a very healthy competitive coding culture.
- At IIIT Vadodara the courses you get to learn are completely subject-related from the beginning of the first year itself. This means you will not have to learn the various other course materials of engineering like drawing, mechanical or civil engineering initially during the first few months in the institute.
- At SGSITS, initially, you have to learn the various subjects related to mechanical, civil, and others, unlike IIIT Vadodara. It is because, during the first year, the course is common for every branch. Every student is given the same study materials.

Which should I prefer, SVNIT mechanical or IIIT Vadodara computer science?
If you are not looking at the branch, then you should think about going to SVNIT for Mechanical. Having friends study in both the institutes, I might be able to provide some details about them.
However, if you have decided that you would like to go for computers and if you could handle that field, IIIT Vadodara is a pretty good choice.
But many people will also advise you to not compare the two branches as they are quite different. NIT Surat is a better option facility wise but let me tell you that getting a job in the mechanical core is quite difficult. A lot of students will also opt for software fields.
