Chemical engineering is a part of many departments in NIT Rourkela or any other NIT but ICT Mumbai specializes in it. Hope it helps.
Both ICT, Mumbai, and IITs are well-known colleges in India and offer quality education. ICT Mumbai is mostly recognized for chemical engineering courses only. Whereas, IIT’s are recognized for computers, electronics, civil, mechanical, and other engineering branches even. However, one should decide the best college based on the brand. So, here are a few quick highlights of MTech in Chemical at IITs and ICT Mumbai.
IIT:
Admissions:
IITs accept graduates and GATE qualified members. Also, it conducts a personal interview and intakes only those students who qualify for the interview.

Starting from experienced faculty to great learning experience, placement rate is commendable. An average package deal for a chemical engineering student from ICT Mumbai is around 5 lakhs, which is pretty good. Also, several chemical industries and companies pay frequent visits to the campus.
A friend of mine is an ex student ICT Mumbai. Here are the reasons why ICT Mumbai is better than an NIT:
Therefore, ICT Mumbai is the most favorable choice.
As for NIT, it depends on which NIT one is mentioning. If they are referring to NIT Rourkela, Warangal, Tirchi, Surathkal then they are good. The rest of the NITs aren’t up to the mark.
Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore is a private institute which is a deemed university. It has been ranked as the number 1 private engineering and technology university in India based on its track records and educational standards.

Thus it completely depends on the students which institute they want to choose for their studies.
If you are interested in Polymar Engineering, ICT Mumbai is the better option. ICT curriculum will give you an edge if you are planning on pursuing higher studies or further research. Recent highlights of ICT Mumbai placements show the average package for Polymar Engineering to be INR 2-3 LPA. The placements are in core sectors. IT and Consulting sectors don’t usually recruit students from Polymar Engineering.
Keep in mind that Polymar Engineering is a specialized field. The job opportunities are limited. Doing Chemical Engineering from a reputed NIT will give the chance to explore more. After pursuing Chemical Engineering, you can specialize in Polymar Engineering but the opposite isn’t possible.
