Should I go to NIT Surathkal Mechanical or ICT Mumbai Chemical?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 3rd, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

If you are considering pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering, you might be wondering which college to choose. Two popular options are the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Mumbai and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Surathkal.

Here are some points to consider when choosing between the two:

  • Alumni network: The alumni network of a college can give you an idea of the kind of opportunities and career paths you can expect after graduation. ICT Mumbai has a strong alumni network, and many of its graduates have reached top positions in academia, research, and industry. NIT Surathkal also has a strong alumni network, but it is relatively smaller compared to ICT.
  • Departmental reputation: The reputation of a department can vary across different colleges. ICT Mumbai is considered to be one of the top colleges in India for chemical engineering. Its curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles, and the faculty is highly qualified and experienced. NIT Surathkal has a good reputation for mechanical engineering, and its curriculum is designed to provide a broad understanding of the field.
  • Campus life: College life is an important factor to consider when choosing a college. ICT Mumbai has a relatively small campus, but it is located in the heart of Mumbai, which offers numerous opportunities for social and cultural activities. NIT Surathkal has a larger campus with modern facilities, and there are many clubs and student organizations that organize various events and activities throughout the year.
  • Research and higher studies: If you are interested in pursuing research and higher studies after graduation, ICT Mumbai may be a better choice as it has a strong focus on research and offers various programs for postgraduate and doctoral studies. NIT Surathkal also offers postgraduate programs, but its focus is more on practical training and industry-oriented education.

In summary, when deciding between ICT Mumbai and NIT Surathkal, you should consider factors such as alumni network, departmental reputation, campus life, and your future goals. If you are interested in chemical engineering and want to pursue research and higher studies, ICT Mumbai is an excellent choice. However, if you want to pursue mechanical engineering and are looking for a great campus life, NIT Surathkal may be a better option for you.
