How is the faculty at NIT Tadepalligudem?

AC
Arjun Chakraborty Posted On : June 28th, 2021
Studied in NIT Andhra Pradesh (2019)

When people discuss colleges, they mainly focus on the placement opportunities that a college has to offer and the alumni base it has established.

  • NIT Andhra Pradesh is one of the newer NITs in the country and has a good college campus with average facilities spread over a large area.
  • The faculty members at the college do not have much expertise in the subjects they are concerned with.
  • Although the college is trying to improve its reputation among other NIT’s, it still has a long way to go for better results and placement records.

If you can get admission into one of the old NITs then it would be suggested not to opt for NIT Andhra Pradesh as the college is not among the Top 15 NITs of the country.

The placement record highlights is tabulated below:

What is the age limit that IIT Bhubaneswar follows for faculty recruitment ? Is there any relaxation ?

DK
Devika Kapur Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar

IIT Bhubaneswar does not put any such age restrictions over faculty recruitment. Only for the post of Assistant Professor, the applicant must be below 35 years of age. The faculty is recruited mainly on the basis of education and experience. Having a bright extra-curricular experience, and other achievements can be a bonus qualification.

The minimum qualification required in the latest faculty advertisement released by the institute was - Ph.D. in the preceding degree in appropriate branch with first class or equivalent. There should be a consistently very good academic record maintained. They also require evidence of the applicant’s ability to pursue independent high-quality research.

Furthermore, university toppers at Bachelors and Masters Level are encouraged to apply.

The experience level requirements are different for different posts:-

  • For the post of a professor, a minimum of 10 years teaching /research / industrial/ professional experience is expected. Out of these 10 years, at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, IISERs, or at an institute at the equivalent level in India or abroad.

  • For the post of an associate professor, at least 6 years of teaching/ research/ industrial/ professional experience is expected. Out of these 6 years, at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs and IISERs or at any institution of comparable standards. Alternatively, experience as a Senior Scientific Officer/Senior Design Engineer in a research organization or industrial enterprise for 3 years is also accepted.

  • For the posts of assistant professors grade-I and Grade-II, relevant experience of minimum 3 years and less than 3 years, respectively, may be considered.

More information about pay-scale, specialization areas, visiting professor post and reservation criteria can be derived from the faculty advertisement released by the institute readily available on the official website of IIT Bhubaneswar.

Who are the best professors of IIT Bhubaneshwar?

MS
Muskan Sheth Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Studied Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2017)

IIT Bhubaneswar has a lot of talented professors at its service which has till now produced around 2000+ research papers. Some of the professors worth mentioning are as follows:

  1. Dr. Rajan Jha: He is from the School of Basic Science working in the physics department and would most probably teach you in the first semester itself. He’s done his Ph.D. from IIT‌ Delhi. Your whole journey of the college becomes a lot easier if you get a teacher as inspiring as him with his unmatched teaching style.
  2. Prof. Sujit Roy: He’s done his Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur and further studies from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and Hokkaido University, Japan. He basically is one of those professors who’d give you your pending fruits of qualifying the JEE Advanced, by fulfilling your dreams of studying in a class filled up with enthusiasm and curiosity. He would definitely make you fall in love with the subject
  3. Prof. Joy Chandra Mukherjee: He’s done his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He belongs to the branch of computer science and engineering and teaches Data structures to the first-year students. He is one of those professors who are not that strict with the rules of attendance and even conducts open book examinations. He is always open to students with their queries.
  4. Dr. Rajesh Kumar: He’s a professor from the School of Basic Science in the Mathematics department. When you talk of a teacher, he has every box ticked in front of his name. With most of the students finding the calculus and graphs boring, it’s his teaching methodology that never lets go of any student’s attention.

The list might have passed over some of the names but the fact that being qualified enough to teach in a premier institute such as IIT Bhubaneshwar itself tells the quality of the faculty.

How good is the CSE branch and faculty at the IIT in Bhubaneswar ?

AR
Anushua Roy Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech CE from IITBBSR (2019)

IIT Bhubaneshwar is at the 22nd rank in the NIRF 2020 ranking. However, there are many other IITs like IIT Madras, Delhi, Bombay, Kharagpur, and Kanpur among others, which are ranked higher than IIT Bhubaneshwar.

Looking at the parameter of placement in the CSE branch, it is quite impressive with a placement rate of 100%. Some reputed companies were present in the placement drives conducted in the college. In 2018, Adobe visited the college and offered the highest package, which was worth INR 38 lakh per annum. Similarly, Goldman Sachs had offered a package of 31.5 lakh to three students from the CSE branch.

The infrastructure required for the CSE branch is also quite well at IIT Bhubaneshwar. The college provides essential facilities like Wi-Fi network, computer laboratories, smart classes, library, and gymnasium.

The faculty is well-qualified and most of them are IIT alumnae and have Ph.D. The student to faculty ratio is 1 teacher to 40 students, which is not very impressive. However, the faculty provides students with elaborated notes and PowerPoint presentations to teach them in recreational ways.

Considering the academics and placement rate it’s clear that CSE at IIT Bhubaneswar is quite good.
