What motivated you to choose a path in higher education administration, and what attracted you to your current position as a HOD?

Since I started working in higher education, it has appealed and motivated me. It allows me to help students and assist parents in gaining insights into media and its technicalities. Today, I am in a position where I can guide hundreds of students every day to pursue their passions and excel in their fields. Being a HOD is thrilling but also comes with responsibilities towards the department. The emotional connection with the students has always been the cherry on top.

What's your vision for the college?

I have been associated with HIMCOM since the initial days of the department. I have always wished the best for it. As a visionary, I want my students to explore the media industry and not feel a lack of resources or skills as it was during my time. I want to do my best to provide the very best to my students to succeed as media professionals. By God’s grace, my college is doing well in this regard, and my vision has been fulfilled over the years.

How do you establish a relationship with the students as the HOD of the college? How do you make yourself available to them?

I am the HOD for the college, but when it comes to my students, I hold a motherly feeling toward each one of them. They are my duty, and I am always present to guide them at every step. I schedule my classes, engage in sessions with them, and make myself always available for their needs. It's because of my students that I am in this position and I make it a point to show my gratitude for that.

What advice would you offer to present-day youth and aspiring students?

Today’s world has cutthroat competition and all students should be prepared for it. The foremost important thing is patience. In any field, one should never lose control over themselves. No problem is big enough to stop you, so keep calm. Secondly, prioritize your mental health and stay up-to-date with society, handling peer pressure well. Lastly, always make your blessings count.

As HOD, my primary responsibilities include overseeing academic activities, managing faculty members, ensuring quality education, and promoting research and scholarly activities. Balancing these responsibilities involves effective time management, delegation of tasks, and prioritizing key initiatives.
