Ankita Pal is the head of the department at Chameli Devi Group of Institutes. She holds a B.Com. degree along with an LLB and an LLM degree in Business Law. Prior to her current employment, she worked at Government Law College as Assistant Professor. She is also the published author of four books on different legal topics.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your department which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

In our department, we have- LL.B (Hons), BA.LL.B (Hons), BBA.LL.B (Hons). A law degree can provide students with a range of skills and knowledge that can set them apart and enhance their ability to outperform in various professional fields. Legal education emphasizes analytical reasoning and critical thinking skills. Law students learn to analyze complex issues, identify relevant information, and construct logical arguments.


What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

Determining what makes the "best" law program for students involves considering a variety of factors, and the choice may depend on personal preferences and career goals. Some of the key factors that students often consider when selecting a law program are accreditation, reputation, faculty, curriculum, facilities and resources, libraries, research facilities, technology, internship and job placement opportunities, connections with law firms, corporations, and other organizations, tuition fees, and the availability of scholarships.


What are the best practices in the course you are offering?

Some of the best practices given to the students are active participation, effective time management, collaboration and teamwork. We help students prepare for DAVV exams, bar exams and competitive exams along with guidance for internships and externships. We teach ethics and professionalism, legal research skills, writing skills, and the ability to debate. However, we also emphasise self-care and provide an extensive online library, a moot court, legal tours, and court visits.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

Our faculty members should have a strong educational background in law, professional experience, the ability to provide training on effective teaching methods and knowledge of different pedagogical techniques. Faculty should understand how to engage students, create interactive learning environments, and adapt their teaching styles to different learning preferences. We train faculty on the effective use of technology in legal education and involve them in the development and updating of the law program's curriculum, mentoring and collaboration, student engagement techniques, etc.


How do you tend to build an industry connect with this program?

Our focus is to provide practical knowledge to our students. We have collaborations with many companies where students can get a chance to have an internship program and get a stipend for it. We also have a session in which we invite industry professionals to deliver guest lectures and organise workshops and seminars for the students.


What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

We are facing challenges like updating our curriculum content to reflect current laws. We are also focused on providing practical experience and ensuring alignment with evolving legal landscapes. Training instructors and addressing ethical considerations are also key aspects for us. We are working towards addressing these issues.


What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

After pursuing a course in law, individuals can explore a variety of career options. One can start their own legal practice or become a practising lawyer or attorney, specialising in areas such as criminal law, family law, corporate law etc. There are jobs as corporate counsel who work as an in-house legal advisor for corporations. Our students also work as legal academics who teach law at universities and colleges. legal journalism, government legal positions etc.
