Dr. Poonam Madan is presently working as the Principal at Dr. Virendra Swarup Institute of Professional Studies, Kanpur. Having immense knowledge, gaining and sharing experience in the field of education, she has teaching experience of over 21 years. Also, she has 39 self-written books which have been published in 32 research papers nationally. She has also been a recipient of the “Shresth Gurujan Award-2009” from Jyoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University, Jaipur.

How would you describe your leadership style?

“Inspiring and improvising team abilities”

According to me, leadership is a process of self-exploration that helps to determine the process of life values and beliefs, and better understanding to lead. I would like to describe myself as a motivational leader who always supports her faculty and other staff. I support everyone to carry out all the activities without taking any mental pressure. I believe that my colleague should be mentally fit for and by working with me. I always try my best to improve, enhance and groom their skills and personality and to keep themselves updated so that we can impart quality education and best practices.

What do you see as VSIPS College’s greatest strengths?

“Quality educational aspects for all-round student development”

Wonderful placements, various valuable extra-curricular activities, personality development and awareness programs, self-defense training and imparting quality education by adopting updated technologies are the greatest strengths of our Institute. Our students are very active, they participate in each activity organized by the college or any other college or foundation. On a monthly basis, our Institute organizes personality grooming activities in which students participate enthusiastically. Our institute runs placement drives and students get placed in top renowned schools with handsome salaries. Our institute has an Alumni Association as well that organizes programs to motivate new learners by following the prominent values of their seniors. What are the duties, being the Principal of the Institute?

As a Principal, my responsibilities towards the institute include overall maintenance of discipline in all academic and institutional level activities. I manage the faculty members and encourage them to provide excellent results in academics and co-curricular activities. I also assist excellent teachers in training according to recent NCTE norms to deliver course programs to the students.

I always inculcate an affectionate environment to our students regarding them as valuable assets for our institute. I enable students to get placed in renowned organizations by equipping them with all desirable competencies.

How do you tend to establish a healthy environment within your institute?

“Building positive and interactive relationships”

I establish healthy relationships with the students and staff by keeping a positive attitude towards them and maintaining a strong relationship with them, which in turn integrates a good learning atmosphere. I motivate my students as well as faculty to learn passionately under my keen guidance and help them to clarify their doubts. I am always ready to help my students and staff in their hour of need. I believe that by believing and showing gratitude, a healthy environment can be created.
