Scholars Institute of Technology and Management

Being the part of Scholars Institute of Management and Technology, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

My responsibilities are multifaceted at Scholars. I work to lead, manage and develop the department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities. Moreover, I also mentor and solve the queries of the students, so that they get a good environment to excel in their careers in the right direction.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

Work hard to achieve your goals. Be focused and have the courage to learn and question. Remember to always be curious to learn new things. Gain knowledge and explore the possible goods around us.

What do you see as the department’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

Studying the domain of engineering would mean mastering the skills related to electrical and electronics as well as having an insight into the world of computer software and hardware. Day by day, we are moving towards clean and green technology, so students are being taught new concepts in the fields of IoT and machine learning. They can then use this information to innovate new things, which is helpful for society.

How does the curriculum of Scholar’s Institute of Management and Technology ensure the best practice of the industry?

Our curriculum has been designed by academic experts along with the guidance of industry experts. We make sure our syllabus is updated with the latest trends in the industry. We take feedback from the students and the alumni too to make sure we cover all grounds on what to include and what not to include. Our goal is to have a syllabus that models the syllabus to achieve the proper skills according to industry requirements.

When you came to the Institute, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

My vision was to make this department a pioneer in higher learning and research and to produce creative solutions for societal needs. We are trying to bring that about through mini-projects and major projects that tackle different societal problems. Our students are allowed the freedom to come up with solutions on their own for these problems.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your Institution?

We cannot define the challenges in a particular way. The main goal of the institution is to continuously improve and uplift the skills of the students with evolving technologies. The technology and requirements change rapidly with time so the challenges cannot be unfolded.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?

We do provide extra skill classes under the "UTKARSH" skill institute’s programme. It includes various workshops on Python, C++, Machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc. Further, regular internal hackathons on real-world problems are being organized to test the skills of the students.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

To cope with industry demands and competition, we organize industrial internships. We do this so that students can understand the industry needs, required skills, and technology. We also provide skill-based programs so that they uplift the technical knowledge of the students.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from your institution or How does the institution prepare students for Higher education?

The curriculum is well structured, which is directly relevant to the needs of the industry. During the course duration itself, students are taught the concepts asked in competitive exams both in the government sector as well as the private sector. Furthermore, different skill development, and communication skills classes are being organized which are followed by technical classes and mock drives to make the students ready for placement.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

The process of updating the syllabus depends on the results of learning outcomes, program outcomes and the mission of the particular department. The analytical parameters also include the evolution of the technology at the present time, the skill gap, industry requirements, and current technologies used in industries.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

We equally focus on theoretical knowledge and “hands-on skills” such as industrial internships, industrial training, skill programs, laboratory activities, and industrial visits. All of these help the students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to overcome the challenges faced in the outside world.
