An Academician with A Vision

A renowned Mathematician and a legendary Academician, Dr. Ashok K Chitkara is the Chancellor of Chitkara University, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Known for his exemplary elegance and bright ideas, with high caliber and right balance of thoughts and beliefs, he is the face of potential youth and equitable education. His perspective and farsightedness in the field of education have rendered promising prospects in the fullness of time.

Fascinated by the language of numbers, Dr. Chitkara has always been extremely passionate about teaching and mentoring students. His journey towards excellence started with his foray into the field of Mathematics, him being a Mathematician par excellence, with over four decades of teaching and mentoring experience. He has to his credit more than 36 published research papers, and six students have completed their Ph.D. under his guidance.

Outstanding Leadership: From Purpose to Impact

Dr. Ashok K Chitkara, fuelled with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics followed by Master of Science in Mathematics, Bachelor of Education followed by Master of Education, and a Doctoral Degree in Mathematics, has relentlessly worked towards developing and providing an environment which offers the best of teaching & learning pedagogies for the students. Besides his list of impressive academic credentials, he has also Passed 10 Levels in French language from Alliance Francaise de Chandigarh, and all 6 Levels in Chinese language by clearing HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), the Chinese Proficiency Test which is a standardised international exam. He is also a Life Member of Indian Mathematical Society, Indian Science Congress Association, and Indian Society for Technical Education.

The Chitkara Legacy - Start of A Beautiful Journey

The establishment of Chitkara University was a turning point in the career of Dr. Ashok K Chitkara, as it pronounced the foundation of an educational system, which would help reach the upcoming generation to the zenith of their success. Under his leadership and guidance, over 60 programs are being offered at the University. It is his strong academic mentorship that resulted in the University to have 200 plus academic partners across the globe. His entire life has been the epicentre of creating academic excellence among the youth of India and producing capable industry professionals and aspirant students, thus adding to the social and scholarly fabric of India.

A True Community Reformer

As a ‘Community Reformer,’ Dr. Chitkara is also dedicated to imparting and improving the quality of the underprivileged and neglected. He has also adopted five villages in Punjab and one in Himachal Pradesh. He believes in total commitment to society as his focus is to continually make the lives of people better by uplifting them in every possible way. 

In addition to this, under his leadership, Chitkara University runs its Community Radio by the name of Chitkara 107.8 FM. Community Radio is entirely managed by the university students and is a great way to engage the community.

Future Ahead: Make Chitkara a ‘Research hub’

Under the revered guidance of Dr. Ashok, Chitkara University is in the process of building a vibrant research culture for fostering outstanding research programs in areas relevant to the future. Keeping this perspective in mind, more than 150 patents have been filed with over 1000 research publications.

In his personal life, Dr. Ashok K Chitkara lives by the motto, ‘FAITH, FOCUS and FOLLOW.’ He lives a ‘NO EXCUSE’ life. Such achievements explicitly show how an ordinary man becomes extraordinary, with true values and beliefs.
