Berhampur University, Odisha has signed an agreement with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) to implement the Ocean Country Partnership Program (OCPP).

New Delhi: Berhampur University in Odisha has entered into an agreement with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) to implement the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP).

The partnership between Berhampur University and the United Kingdom comes as a result of their shared commitment to research and education in marine science. According to this agreement, the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS), a UK government agency, has planned to provide scholarships to a minimum of five students in the Marine Science Department of the university.

As per the agreement, Mou will remain active for a minimum period of two years, after that, it can be extended further as per the requirement of ACU and Berhampur University.

The scholarship will be provided to support research in marine pollution, sustainable seafood, and marine biodiversity. The ACU will provide the tuition fee and living allowance on behalf of the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture.

“We have signed a MoU with the ACU for implantation of the OCPP,” said vice-chancellor Geetanjali Dash. “We will also explore some other areas for collaborative research, and student and teacher exchange programmes.”
