Academics and beyond: Reviewing IIT Delhi

Campus Life:

The Campus is wonderful, with plenty of greenery and a great peer group. There are numerous clubs focusing on extracurricular activities such as (PFC) for photography and cinematography the Physics and Astronomy Club (PAC), V-Defyn for Dance, and many others catering to various interests. These clubs are instrumental in honing your skills. The campus hosts 3-4 fests annually including the major cultural fest Rendezvous, Tryst for technical enthusiasts, MCom, and BCom for business and startups along with several other events organized by individual clubs. The central library offers a vast collection of books there are numerous sports available including swimming, hockey, badminton, and athletics most clubs and websites like BSW, are student-run.The hostels are very maintained. The mess food is quite good . Hostels are assigned around 20 days prior to classes begin.

Internships Opportunities:

Many Internship opportunities are provided by the college itself there's a club for this namely OCS (Office of Career Choices). Companies offering different job profiles in quant trading, Consultancy, research, Teaching, core, etc. offer a decent stipend. Generally, consult and quant. companies offer a high stipend and core and teaching one receives low offers. If you want to get an Internship then you must do some good projects to show in ur CV and the main thing maintain a decent CGPA(at least above 7). If you have done an internship before and you have some experience then there are very good chances for you to get a high-paying Internship.

Should you join NIT JAMSHEDPUR?

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

fee structure includes tution fees- 125000 / year hostel fees- 30000 / year mess fees- 34000 / year. institute fees- 25000 / year The gen/obc students with annual income of 5,00,000+ have to pay the entire fees. The sc/st/pwd and gen-obc with annual income less than 1 lakh do not need to pay the tution fees. The gen-obc students with annual family income between 1-5 lakhs have to pay one-third of the tution fees. This makes the total cost to be around 8.5 lakh(in case of no remission).

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curricum has courses very relevant to the present day industry needs. The curricum includes core concepts of mechanical engineering as well as subjects like Supply Chain Management, Data analytics, Opearational Management etc. The exams are conducted twice in a semester, once in the middle of the semester and one in the end. For the autumn semester, mid sems in October and End Sems in December. For the spring semester, mid sems in March and end sems in May.

NIT JAMSHEDPUR REVIEW

Campus Life:

There are 3 annual fest that occur in NIT JAMSHEDPUR . URJA (sports fest ) OJASS (Annual technical fest ) CULFEST (annual cultural fest) . Nit jamshedpur has many clubs . There are clubs for sports(almost all sports club and many times inter NIT is also held in our campus) , cultural , technical , NSS ,coding , etc All clubs have president or captian with many other POR's also and a professor in charge of the club . Students bond with their seniors through clubs and learn many things along with it .

Faculty:

All faculties are highly qualified . And faculty to student ratio is also good bcoz it's not some private college where 7k + students are there in cs and in big classrooms only one faculty teaches to a high number of students. These things are very well managed as it's a national institute. Some professors are very good some doesn't bother at all and some will not give you marks .

Faculty:

The facility to student ration is good in dtu there is separate teacher for theroy instructor for lab and in lab there is other lab instructor so the student to teacher ratio is overall i say good. Faculty are highly qualified they have done phd from iit's but some of there or i can say most of them are failed to explain the concept because in class there is a pace of teaching which teacher acquired to teach the students and students are unable to proccess things in short time of period in class.

Campus Life:

Campus life in dtu is i can say is 10 out of 10 the feast are amazing and campus is really a good place to chill. Classroom are good . Sports have a separate fest and it was amar thia year. There are numorius no of society in dtu which is focusing on different areas of interest.

There are more than 1000+ books present in the library and all students have the access to all the books. All Kinds of technological provisions and facilities are provided within the classrooms. Variety of sports can be played within the campus. Annually Sports week is also observed within the campus in the month of September. More 25 Societies,Clubs,Cells are present in the campus for the overall develpment of the students.

Placement Experience:

5th semester is the time when one gets chance to get intership and throughout 7th semester placements starts all in the campus itself. More than 100+ companies visit campus every year giving more than 800 offers to the students. This year 2024 highest package was of 54LPA which was less than last year's 81LPA but the average has improved from 15LPA to 18.5LPA Almost 71% students got placed. I m currently thinking about the placements in the campus only.

Faculty:

The faculty to student ratio is ok for few branches and pathetic for others, In an ideal scenario, each faculty must have 20 students to mentor but here it can lead upto 1-30 to 1-120. The professors are basic and have no outside knowledge other than the books they have (in some cases the books the have is the books they had* because now the book is gone and only pages of it are there). The faculty credentials and their teaching skills are questionalbel. And about having a word with a professors is quite easy as long as it is in their favor. Overall some professors are good and actuall intrested in teaching students but due to politics by other professors, they dont do anything that can actullay help students become professional.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is great and subjects that a college is allowed to teach is amaizng. The curriculum of Production and Industrial Engineering is by far the most advanced and in terms with the manufacturing industry requirement. The real world application of it can be taken into account. The projects included in the course are also kind of cool The exams are by far the most useless things becasue there is no effort from the faculty to make good questions, same old questions repeating over the years. The evaluation is based on how well connected you are with the teacher for boys and if you are a girl then you hit the jackpot as you will be given a full grade no matter how bad you are in terms of academics.

Faculty:

The faculty is highly qualified almost all the professors are phds and have published research papers. However, some professors are rude and not supportive of the students. You need to make a good connection with your teacher so that teachers can also support you. You can approach them in labs and classes but some professors like their privacy and do not distribute in their off time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is still outdated as a first year. same maths physics chemistry will be taught. but some subjects like communication skills and mechatronics are really interesting. Internships Opportunities:

The course curriculum is totally relevant; after 2022, in our college, NEP will be applied to our new curriculum, which is very easy as compared to our senior curriculum; they were teaching very well, and class hours are also not more than 6 hours a day generally Classes are very easy to attend and interactive as well. Courses have lots of Practicals which are just related to real-world situations.

The tuition fee is the same for all 4 years; our college fee per semester is 112000, including all the expenses of the hostel and mess fee. As I belong to the below one lakh category, I have a 100%fee waved so I have to just pay the hostel and mess fee, The Mess fee is 25000 a semester which is very ok with the quality of food, Those who became top in 5% of the batch also got 5000rs per semester.

A view of IIT Delhi Undergraduate Course

Campus Life:

There were many clubs inside the campus, all led by students only. Clubs like Enactus or Economics club were there. We also had great festivals such as Rendezvous and Tryst. They were one of the largest Cultural and Technical festivals in India.

Faculty:

Faculty to student ratio was nearly 10:1 and that is pretty good as faculties were availale always to discuss anything that a student wants to discuss. All the faculty are very qualified and have great teaching ability.

Fee has not been increased as such, also scholarships are available depending on family income, like for income less than a lakh per annum, tuition fee reduces to zero, between 1-5 lakh per annum it's 1/3 , and above 5 lakh it's full. But overall the fee is fine given the facilities like the labs the IITs provide, there are also various scholarships available

Campus Life:

There are many Cultural Clubs like Quizzing, Debating, Literary, Drama, Dance, Music which are quite fun and engaging. Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is good and get updated time to time.but it feels like it is very much lacking behind the current industrial scenarios. But the college includes some good subjects like financial education, communication skills to improve the students soft skills and trying to make the students industry relevent. The college must update the course every year to make the course industry relevent. Exams held 3 times a semester 2 mid semester exams and 1 end semester exams .these exams are not that tough even after studying 1 week before you can pass the exam with good grades . But recently the result of third semester exams are announced and more then 90 percent students from mechanical and pie branch got failed in theory of machine and strength of materials. The college life runs nicely till mid sem 2 exams but just after mid sem 2 you will found that assignment submission, practical exams started and just after a week of practical there will be exam of end semester .

Campus Life:

Confluence is the annual cultural fest which was nice but not that much good compared to other iits ,nits and du . But the technical fest (techspardha) was worst most students got to there homes during techspardha. Books and journals are very easily accessible. Who evere want to study can borrow the books from library. But the library shut downs after 5 pm. And there is a reading room along with library which opens 24*7 . The annual sports meet is known as citius which just fine. No any type of coaches are provided if you want to learn any sport you have to follow your seniors.

My friend is currently in the 4th year of production engineering, NIT Trichy and according to him, it doesn’t really have a good prospect. Here’s why: While other departments have 6 subjects per semester you’ll be having 7. This can get quite hectic for you at times. Despite so much hard work, placements are not good at all. You will never be treated equally to your mechanical friends, however good your profile is. Although you can go into most of the mechanical engineering fields like automobiles, industrial tools making, etc. you will be paid lesser than your mechanical engineer mates. However, if you are planning for higher studies and research, then production is a very good choice. Being a production engineer opens up the manufacturing, industrial, and mechanical higher study options too. Ans. You must know what you are getting yourself into. The mechanical engineering department of NITC offers 2 BTech courses that are Mechanical and Production. Both of these departments share faculties, labs, some courses, and other facilities. But at the end of the day, both are different courses. There are two types of people seen in Production Engineering at NITC: Students who wanted to study mechanical, but didn’t have the rank for it or could only get mechanical at other NITs. Production is after all similar to mechanical. Students who didn’t have an appropriate rank to choose a branch/college of their choice, but still wanted to study in an NIT. There are few things that students commonly felt during their days: Students are often seen saying that they should get mechanical equivalent certificates. There is no purpose in saying this as they are two different branches. Students also complain that teachers are biased. Few teachers refrain from teaching students from production batches. Mechanical batches are taught mostly by permanent faculty while production batches get guest faculties. There are very few placement opportunities for Production batches in comparison with Mechanical. Core companies are even fewer. The students of Production are often isolated from other batches of students. They are allotted spare rooms. Ans. Both the institutes are government institutes and provide best in class education when it comes to Fire and safety engineering. They offer good placement opportunities in government and private organizations with good packages. However, NFSC Nagpur might be the choice to go due to the following reasons. CUSAT: Let’s discuss CUSAT first.  The institute offers both fire and safety which includes more topics related to engineering courses which are very useful from a placements perspective.  CUSAT is both AICTE and NBA accredited so has a good curriculum. One of the downsides is that in CUSAT fire drills do not take place regularly which is required by some companies during the placement process. Even though it is a very famous college in South India and has a good placement record, the infrastructure is a bit old compared to NFSC Nagpur. The competition here for the Fire and Safety course is more and you need to have a good rank in the CUSATCAT. NFSC Nagpur: NFSC Nagpur has a course curriculum that is in line with the world’s top institutes with more focus given to physical standards and course syllabus. The institute focuses more on the fire drill process and physical fitness along with the academic part. It is a central government institute and provides the best placements for its students. The institute's alumni hold top positions in top fire organizations in India. The value of fire engineering here matches the IIT tag when it comes to fire engineering. It is very much necessary to have proper time management to align yourself with daily routines. All the hard work you put in will be reaped as many top companies including PSU’s come for recruitment here. BE in Fire course is a newly added one in this institute and competition is a bit less. The first few batches have passed with flying colors and have good placement records with the average package being around 10 LPA.
