Faculty

At my time, There were 9 or 10 faculties and 55 students in each year. There was 2 internal exams and 1 semester exam that is the final exam in that time practical exam was also there. I can't take their names as it will be very much personal but my research mentor was very good, supportive. And there was 1 faculty who only supports or favors his own favorite students.

Campus Life

There was 2 libraries one is central and another one is under a department. Every year, they organised one annual function around december month for 3 days. Clubs and studrnt associations were there. Mainly every events were organised by that student association.

Faculty

The faculty to faculty relationship is good as we can contact our faculty or mentor for any problems any day and they make sure that our performance and attendance are maintained well. If any problems are noticed by our mentor it is directly informed to the parents.

Placement Experience

From 7th semester students are eligible to participate in campus placements. Students are eligible only if they maintain their 7.5 CGPA. I personally want to pursue masters after completing graduation along with music professionally.

Currently I am persuing BE Biotechnology degree from Chandigarh University under the department of Biotechnology Engineering and Food Technology and I am now in y 3rd year of Bachelors degree. The course fees at the time of admission in back 2022 for me was around 88500 Indian Rupees per semester which i am currently also paying and the university provides you a huge percentage of scholarship based on your CUCET s ore which is an entrance exam of Chandigarh University. I am eligible for a 30 % of scholarship based on my score of CUCET but to maintain this scholarship throughout your graduation degree you have to cross the bar of 7.5 CGPA every year otherwise the scholarship will be removed. The examination fees for each semester is around 2500 Indian Rupees and there is no developmental fees, its same for your entiire Bachelors degree. The fees every year for the freshers increases by a small rate for the 1st year students because of new facilitiies that the university provides.

Internships Opportunities

Students have to choose the domain and company for the internship they are going. Should get a approval letter from the company. The HOD will contact the company and mail them the interest of students for internship in their company. If the request is accepted and the approval letter is sent from the company means then only the students can go for that company. Otherwise should look for some other companies. The project must be done in the final year to clear the progress norms. Then only degree will be given to students.

Faculty

The institution provides various courses. It has Engineering Courses, Polytechnic Courses,Pharma courses, Allied health and science, Arts and science for women. There are about 8000 students are studying at Paavai Institutions at various fields. So , my course fee yearly is 160000, in which our clg provide scholarship test also at the time of admission in which the scholarship will be provided based on the score of the test . If you score more than 50% scholarship will be of 12% etc. I got scholarship of 12% in which i save around 24-30k out of 160000 fees. My course is mechanical engineering and different brances have different fee structure but the scholarship status is same for all students.

Placement Experience

Placement process is very nice here at the chandigarh university. after 2nd or 3rd year of your degree . They will select tpp or non tpp students for that , if you will select tpp , college will provide you placement and for that u need to pay 10000rs for 2 yr course, which is more than worth it

Course Curriculum Overview

Aspects like Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics and Animal Cell Culture influenced me to choose this course. Practical sessions attended in labs are very effective. Infrastructures of lab should be advanced more. In every month MSTs are taken along with practical mst.

Ques. How good is biotech at BIT, Mesra?

● Top Answer By Indrani Pahari on 19 Apr 21

Ans. I would like to share the experience of one of my cousins, who studied biotech at BIT Mesra. It all started after he secured a decent rank in his AIEEE exam and through the All-India quota got admission in BE- Biotechnology course, offered by BIT Mesra. In the first year of his engineering, students studied the same subjects irrespective of their branches. At the end of his first year, he was quite confident that he had studied hard and cleared all subjects without any problems. After getting into his second year on the first day in the department he got the reality check. From that day onwards, he doesn’t advise people to join Biotechnology, here at BIT Mesra. Some vital points about Biotechnology, BIT Mesra: The lab equipment is world-class but none of them truly work. If some of them do the students are not allowed to operate them. The class schedule is quite hectic, students will have classes throughout the day, 5 days a week. For the next 3 years, same things are taught to you under different subject titles. It's like every semester. So from the experience, I shared with you gives you in and out of the field. Now, it is your choice whether you want to get enrolled in the particular field or not.Read more

Ques. Should I take the biotechnology branch at NIT Raipur?

● Top Answer By Shreea Tiwari on 25 Mar 21

Ans. My brother completed his B. Tech in Biotechnology from NIT Raipur in May 2016. The reason for choosing it was because of the brand value. But after being in the college and started taking interest in the studies and various activities, it went on to be a great 4-year long journey. Biotechnology is an amazing subject with many interdisciplinary projects coming up your way. You can always combine your knowledge of biotechnology with other fields, like Electronics,  It is a trustworthy institute for CSE. You will have to work yourself to achieve something big.  Companies that visit NIT Raipur include some good names but not the high-end ones like Google, Facebook but the ones like Oracle, Samsung, Infosys, CTS, CIL, BPCL, Mu-Sigma, Polaris, Yodlee, Analytics Quotient, Tricon Infotech, Capgemini, Wipro, Barclays, Amazon, Pradan, Resonance, etc. Placement Percentage 90-100% Highest Package 17 Lakh Average Package 7-8 Lakh Lowest PAckage 3.5 Lakh The number and level of the companies which visit the campus is going to go up in the coming years. Ques. I am doing BTech biotech from IMS Engineering College Ghaziabad. What is the scope of my jobs in the future both on and off campus?

● Top Answer By Barkha Roy on 23 Jun 21

Ans. Since B.Tech Biotech is the newly evolving sector in India, you need to struggle a little to get placed in decent jobs. Most core companies do not hire B.Tech students as they get their work done by BSc. Graduates at a very low pay scale, public sectors are good to look for a job. If you want to go into the research and development field, then you need to go for JRF interviews, once you get selected you will do various projects under a well-qualified scientist. Also, 2 years of JRF and SRF can get you a Ph.D. degree. You can join various research centers like ICAR, CSIR, NIO, and many others. You can even give GATE, or GRE and do masters first, then apply for a job. This will make you more capable and many other options will be open for you after pursuing a master's degree. Thus concluding we can say that though there are options for you to enter the research and development field, joining research centers, applying for a job, or searching for a job. But pursuing a master's degree would be a much better option as it will provide you ample opportunities to opt for.Read more

Ques. How is the biotech department of BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Ayantika Ghose on 19 Feb 21

Ans. The Biotech Department of BIT Mesra is average. If you want to join a core company after completing your degree, there are better alternatives. Maximum placement at the institute is in IT and Analytics. Among the companies that visit the campus for pavement, Nestle is the only one that is close to your area of interest.  Here are some other facts that you need to know about the Biotech department.  The department has great faculty and infrastructure. Despite that, you will see many students consulting a lot of books for their course-work, as it is not close to the concept of engineering that they had in mind. As mentioned before, very few core companies visit the campus placement. One of my friends pursued Biotech from BIT Mesra and during her time Biotech students were allowed to sit for only a few consultancies as well.  There are alumni of this institute who secure good off-campus placement offers on their own. So, getting a good job offer depends on your effort. This is a brief picture of BIT Mesra. The final decision is up to you.Read more
