Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants seeking admission to 4 years full-time BE program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.

Academic Requirement:

A Pass in the HSC (Academic) or it's equivalent with a minimum 50% for general category, 45% for BC/BCM, 40% marks for SC/ST/SCA/MBC & DNC category candidates in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
A pass in any one of the HSC (Vocational Subject) as given with any one of the Engineering related Subjects namely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry with a minimum 50% for general category, 45% for BC/BCM, 40% marks for SC/ST/SCA/MBC & DNC put together.

Entrance Exam:

Candidate must qualify TNEA enamination.

Candidates must have completed higher secondary (Vocational Subject) with any one of the subjects related to engineering namely physics, chemistry or mathematics with at least average marks of 50% for general candidates (45 % for BC including BM, 40% for SC/ ST/ SCA, 40% for MBC DNC)

Selection Criteria

The selection is done on the basis of TNEA rank. Candidates can fill the TNEA application form online.
The rank list of TNEA is prepared on the basis of marks scored by the candidates at 10+2 examination in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
The counselling for TNEA is organized by the Anna University
Candidates will get the rank based on the merit and need to appear for counselling at the prescribed date, time and venue with the required documents

Eligibility Criteria for Lateral Entry:

Candidates must have completed Diploma in Engineering in relevant stream with minimum average marks of 55% ((50 % for BC including BM, mere pass for SC/ ST/ SCA, 45% for MBC DNC) in the final year
Candidates must have done Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc.) of minimum duration of 3 years with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the graduation level and should have with minimum average marks of 55% ((50 % for BC including BM, mere pass for SC/ ST/ SCA, 45% for MBC DNC) in the final year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose mechanical engineering because of my keen interest in moving bodies and I'm having a great command of physical sciences. Well qualified faculties are few. Most of the professors are post-graduates from local colleges from Anna university. They don't bother to create that extra interest in students. The way of teaching methods is outdated. Very few professors are really concerned about students' curiosity about learning new things. Each subject professor will distribute your notes which is more than enough to score a good cgpa in Anna University exams. And additionally, you will ample amount of study holidays at least 15 days prior to the exam for you to prepare well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I didn't have many choices to select from many that college offered. I had my mind set to choose mechanical engineering. The students to faculty ratio is about 10:1 and the teachers are a minimum post-graduate. Teachers use various methods to teach, they provide notes, project the topics that are about to teach and explain it. Exams are conducted at monthly basis, at 2 or 3 internal exams per semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

When I went to counselling I didn't have many options to choose and I also had a mind to choose Mechanical Engineering over other departments due to its dependability. The faculties in the college are well qualified and are talented. Exams were conducted on a monthly basis apart from semesters and were somewhat difficult to pass, as they were to train the students for semesters.

As previously stated, I had the course in my mind to choose mechanical engineering over other courses because I have a large degree of interest in machines and automobiles. Hence I opted for the college. There are many well qualified faculties in the department with a minimum of post-graduation. Course Curriculum Overview:

I solely chose this course on the suggestions that I received from my relatives and well-wishers as they said it had "Broader scope and good job opportunities". Mechanical Department in Panimalar Institute of Technology constituted 250 students in total during my batch(2015-2019). There were four classes in total which had around 70 students each including the lateral entry students from Year II. Our College had well-qualified teaching faculties categorized as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor who were managed by our H.O.D (Ph.D.) and there were few other Ph.D. holders and well-accomplished professors during our III-Year of study. Their teaching methods were not the best in class per se but still moderate compared to surrounding engineering colleges. Exams had a semester pattern and 3 sets of internal assessments were conducted each semester but internal assessment marks were mostly graded based on the student's overall performance.

I chose mechanical engineering because of my interest in engines and cars and mechanical operations. There are an ample amount of well-qualified faculties in the department. 1:60 is the ratio of faculty to student ratio. Exams are conducted on monthly basis for a week and are syllabus-based.
