The curriculum is very comprehensive and relevant with the current industry and specially if you are interested in information technology, and supply chain. Teaching methods are mostly presentation based the classes are 2 hour long and we usually have four classes per day. Also the year is divided into four trimesters of three months each this increases slide pressure on the students and they have to go through seven subjects in one trimester
I wanted to pursue MBA so went for this course. Our batch has a student strength of 71 and a faculty of around 20. The faculty has a mix of old and new teachers, but overall good. We have our course distributed semester wise wherein each sem has 2 quarters. Each quarter is for 8 weeks - 7 weeks of teaching, 1-week exam.
I opt to join this institute mainly considering batch strength, faculty/student ratio, and alma mater. 25 faculties are exclusively for the DoMS. About three fourth of them have 20+ years of experience in the industry which actually helps them to provide in-depth practical knowledge to the students. DoMS IIT Madras follows a quarter system by which there would be exams every 8 weeks. The evaluation is solely through the written exams. It is done with the combination of quizzes, assignments, projects, class participation, and so on.
Faculty are highly qualified and experienced in their role and the lectures are in a 4:1 ratio to the students. Exams are purely dependent on the faculty whether they want to conduct written exams or use assignments to grade.
The Department of Management Studies (DoMS) of IIT Madras was established in 2004 (and IITM has been delivering MBA studies since 2001). On the other hand, IIM Amritsar was established on July 27, 2015. IIT Madras is the first IIT to open its doors to enthusiasts from streams other than engineering. These degrees include- MBA, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., etc.
Given below are some factors by which you can analyze which is better for an MBA as a fresher:
