About IME IIT
Set up in 1974 as an interdisciplinary program, the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering (IME) at IIT Kanpur is one of the first in the country to leverage the analytical education of engineers in the training of management professionals. IME IIT Kanpur has been ranked 23rd by NIRF 2023 in the Management Category. The department currently offers MBA, MTech and PhD programs in Industrial and Management Engineering. The 2-year full-time residential flagship MBA program of IME Kanpur works along with the CAPSTONE program. The Capstone Project is a two-semester process in which students pursue independent research on a question or problem of their choice, engage with companies in relevant disciplines, and - with the guidance of a faculty mentor - produce a substantial paper that reflects a deep understanding of the topic. Admission to MBA is based on CAT score and to MTech is offered on the basis of a valid GATE score followed by a Written Test and Personal Interview round. For admission to its doctoral level PhD course, shortlist is done through a valid GATE score. - Merit cum Means Scholarship: It is availed by those who are other than category (SC/ST) students with annual parental income less than 4.5 lakhs. The scholarship provides a full-tuition waiver and pocket allowance of Rs.1000 pm for the duration of the program.
- INSPIRE Scholarship: Sanctioned an annual scholarship of Rs.30,000 per semester along with a research grant of Rs.20,000 for students of B.S programs within the ALL INDIA RANK (AIR) 10,000 as per Common Merit LIST (CML)

The entry to MBA course is achievable via the Common Aptitude Test exam held every year during the month of November. Since IIT is a government-funded institute, the return on investment is great here. CAT examination is one of the best opportunities to get into the MBA line of study, apart from a few others like NMAT, XAT, CET, etc. There is a reservation policy as usual in the government sector. Hence, there is a reservation policy in all colleges one will be applying for.
Admission:
It would help if you had a Valid CAT score ( preferably above the 85 percentile to apply for MBA at IIT Kanpur. An excellent academic record of above 65% in 10th and 12th and a CGPA of about 6.5 and above from a recognized AICTE university/ IIT/IIM or IIIT. The application form is available on the MBA IIT Kanpur Portal. The admission process could have an interview system. Currently, the students are onboarded based on their academics and CAT score. An interview process would also take into account, the ability of the individual to communicate efficiently.

The application form will be available after the CAT exam on the official website of IME IIT Kanpur: iitk.ac.in/ime/ Application Fees will be around 1200 Rs for General and the deadline will be the end of January. The entrance Exam considered is CAT only. During the admission process, college does not market themselves sufficiently and properly. Also, colleges should register themselves with the CAT as a non-dim institute to directly get the scores of the candidates. Support from the college during the admission process is not proper. The administration responds to issues and queries late, and most of this is handled by students, while it should be handled by the administration

Only engineers are eligible as the courses are towards technology. Form available on the IIT K website. Need to apply to all IITs separately. Reservations rules are the same as IIMs. The batch size should increase a little around 60 to 70.

Admission process starts after CAT results are declared. Based on the applications received, the cutoff is decided. Application fees is INR 1600 and the last date to apply is by the end of January. Further processes start from February and the results get declared in the month of May.
