I had applied to 2 institutes. Assam Institute of Management and Gauhati University. But I decided to attend AIM simply because it had a good track record. The admission process was simple. CAT/MAT score needed then you had to submit the application and you would be called for GD and PI.
For the pandemic situation, our college conducted the admissions process online. First I filled the application form and then I was shortlisted for the interview process. College conducted the interview process online and then a written ability test was taken. Our college is trimester based so we appear for exams 3 times a year. 70 marks written and 30 marks internal.
For applying to the Assam Institute of Management you need to have appeared in any one of the following examinations: CAT, CMAT, MAT, ATMA & XAT. Any graduate with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) can apply for admission in AIM. Final-year graduate students can also apply for admission. After approval of your application form candidates who are shortlisted for the admission process are required to go through GD(Group Discussion) round and PI (Personal Interview) round. The final list of candidates shortlisted for admission is selected on the basis of your performance in the GD & PI round along with a weightage of your graduation marks and CAT /CMAT / MAT/ ATMA/ XAT scores.
To get admission in AIM you have to clear MAT with good marks, on your MAT score you will be called for group discussion. The selected students from GD will be filtered out for a personal interview. Overall the process is as per IIM standard.
I have not searched for any other college other than AIM. I have not availed of any quota. Admission procedure: 1.online form submission 2.should appear for exams like MAT to get qualified marks 3.Group discussion 4. Personal interview.
The Admission process was good. A valid AIMA-approved entrance exam like MAT, CAT, ATMA, XAT is required and the minimum entrance score will be fixed by the institute. I applied to this institution because of my good placement record. And one of the good colleges in the northeast. The admission procedure was followed by 3 rounds. One is a valid management entrance score, GD, and PI round.
For MBA I have only applied in AIM and nowhere else. MAT, CAT and ATMA marks were taken into consideration for the GD PI round. Students were called on the basis of their MAT, CAT, ATMA and previous graduation, 12th and 10th marks.
I had applied for various colleges before getting into 2 years full-time MBA program. However, I chose to go for Assam Institute of Management because I didn't want to leave my home city for some reason. I didn't have any quota for admission. I went through step by step process before getting selected. The first step was getting eligible to apply for MBA Program at AIM which was having a sufficient CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT Score. I had given my MAT score. The minimum percentile for MAT in AIM is 75%ile. The second step was Group Discussion, where, the class group was 8 people per GD. The third step was a Personal Interview.
First, you have to apply online through the AIM's official website then after the shortlisting of the selected names the candidates are called to the college for Group Discussion and Personal Interview, and background verification.
At first, the advertisement is given on the official website of the college. Then students can apply for the programme. Then the shortlisted students are called for the GP/PI round. Then the selected students get admission. After getting the admission they start the programme with an introductory class where the faculties introduce themselves then after that the students will also have to introduce themselves. Then the regular classes get started.
