My MBA journey at Assam Institute of Management

Remarks :

I had applied to 2 institutes. Assam Institute of Management and Gauhati University. But I decided to attend AIM simply because it had a good track record. The admission process was simple. CAT/MAT score needed then you had to submit the application and you would be called for GD and PI.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The faculty was well qualified for teaching the subjects. One thing I liked about the Marketing paper was the faculty used a lot of real-life examples and gave a lot of group assignments and presentations which was fun. Coming to exams we had a trimester system i.e 3 exams in one year. But the crazy thing was 6 exams on 6 consecutive days which was pretty demanding.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are a huge deal at our college. I had taken an internship at Oyo rooms and my stipend was around 5000. Our internship was for around 2. Some of the companies for internship are Oyo rooms, IFB services, DSP mutual fund, HDFC Bank, Havells etc. The projects may differ from person to person and company to company.

Placement Experience :

From the second year, our campus placements had begun some of the companies are as follows. ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI Life Insurance, Asian Paints, Federal Bank, HDFC AMC, Vishal Mega Mart, etc. The highest package was around 7.5 lakh and the average was around 3 4 lakh. Only 3 or 5 students didn't get placed and some opted out for placements to pursue their entrepreneur journey.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

My overall cost was around 3.7 lakh. There are definitely some good companies for campus placement. But regarding financial assistance, you can apply for a loan at various banks. And for financial assistance or scholarships, I don't have much idea about it.

Campus Life :

We had an annual fest a few years back but it was closed don't know the reasons for it. We also had a good library and the books were covered under the fees. For amenities, our classrooms were well equipped with projectors and that's about it. For extracurricular activities we had an annual sports day, recently our juniors also held a cyclotron. We also had Industrial Visits and excursions. Our group also went to New Delhi to compete in a National competition under All India management schools.

Interview Experience :

We had GD and PI. For GD our topic was about GST. Different groups have different topics but the topics are basically from current affairs not too much out of the box type of stuff. After that we had PI and the panel members had asked me some basic questions i.e. why AIM, about AIM, strengths and weaknesses etc.

From 3rd semester students are eligible for campus placements and can apply to the companies they wish to. Some of the companies that I remember right now are PWC, KPMG, axis bank, ujjivan bank, Vodafone idea, pantaloons, Bajaj Allianz, Tata AIG, Flipkart, etc. The highest package was of PWC. The average package of the placements were around 350000 -400000 per annum. More 70% of the students were placed and some of the students didn't want jobs as they were interested in further studies.
