IT is really a rising industry since the world us getting largely dependent on Tech. The curriculum however does little to prepare you for real world application like internships and jobs. The curriculum , if focused on real life skills could help students secure an internship. Frequency of exam is just fine with both internals between semesters and semester after each semester

i choosed btech in IT because i see a wider future scope in this field and honestly the placement scenario is also better compared to other branches in the course we have to prepare several projects which keeps us updated with modern technical trends and the college also offers oppurtunities in various technical events the teaching methods are modern and exams are conducted with discipline

The curriculum is quite impressive. It is neither very hectic nor to lazy but it's a very perfect combination of theory and lab class in order to maintain the connectivity of the theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge. There are different kinds of tech and non-tech events which are regularly conducted by the respective branches in the college

1st of all I have chosen this college and this course cause it have on campus placement and a pretty good average package in the top branch like CSE IT etc. As I am in 1st year so the curriculum doesn't provide something special just same extend version of class 12 pcm but all the lab classes like ECE, Phy, mech, chem helps a lot for concept clearance and physical understanding. The only thing I don't find logical is that I am an IT student but I have to learn phy, and chem in my 1st year which doesn't make sense at all and some of the faculty members in this college just teaching themselves in class so that's my sleeping hour that time, they should teach with a smart board and use the projector for better understanding and should use the mic to reach out the backbenchers also. There are 2 sem in each year of the 4, each exam is of 60 and holds for 2.5 hours and practicals, viva, internal, etc. combined carries 40 marks and the passing marks is 40/100, exams are difficult if u don't study.

I have an interest in coding and want to be a web developer so I had to choose this course. improvement requirement in my college is a better coding culture which is needed and the teaching side depends on the individual teacher some will be good or some will be not so good like sort of research professor type depends on your ability to capture the things he teaches so its completely personal and overall teaching and stuff are nice teachers are ready to help .exams will be held after 6 months for odd seems and after 3 months for even ones and mid sem is not here as college is autonomous so we have surprise tests here which is really surprise test no one gets a hint of it teacher may take it any time of course after completing a chapter or so-called module here that it

My dicision is based on interact with the people who associated with this institute . Course currilumn here is not advanced as per requirement at this corporate world. There are four unit test each having 10 marks for internal and 60 marks end semester

Course curriculum is relevant for the need for the particular field and course is designed in such a way that it prepares for the real-world applications as it teaches for the market needs . It conducts surprise test after every topic is finished

Actually tried for Computer Science and Engineering, but due to low cutoff, got Information Technology branch. IT branch is ever growing, always presents new challeges. Faculty:student ratio is average. Most faculty has completed M.Tech, some completed Ph.D.
IEM Kolkata IT will be comparably better. Although IEM has pretty strict rules in place, it offers better opportunities in terms of academics and placements. According to the stats of recent IEM placements, each year around 90% of students get placed each year from IT. The highest CTC for the branch is INR 40 LPA.
Heritage Institute of Technology is a good option, if you want to pursue research or MS, further.
If you're considering pursuing an IT course at Heritage, you may have heard some negative feedback about the program. While it's true that IT may not be the strongest option at Heritage, there are still some reasons why it might be the best choice for you. Here are some points to consider:
If you're still unsure whether IT at Heritage is the right choice for you, here are some things to keep in mind:
Ultimately, the decision to pursue an IT degree at Heritage is a personal one that depends on your individual circumstances and goals. While it may not be the best option for everyone, it could be a viable choice for those who are interested in exploring different areas of computer science or transferring to another program after the first year. Just remember to do your research and weigh your options carefully before making a final decision.
In terms of college, IEM and HIT both provide similar career opportunities in the IT sector. Major recruiters like TCS, Infosys, CTS, Capgemini from the IT sector visit both the institutes.
If you had to pick between the two engineering fields, you should always go with CS. If you select CS, you will be able to apply for a variety of government/public sector positions (ISRO, BARC, IOCL) after completing your B.tech. Only CS guys are qualified to apply for the majority of these government jobs.
Parameters | IEM | Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata |
Tuition fees (B.Tech) | 5.88 lakhs | 3.93 lakhs |
Average CTC | INR 5-6 LPA | INR 3.75 LPA |
Highest CTC | 72 LPA | 16 LPA |
As you will get similar opportunities you can choose either. Also, outside of WB, no one cares if you're from IEM or HIT. Unless you're from JU, everything is the same.
