  • There weren’t many scholarship opportunities at the time and the fees could be lowered or making a provision for international students to work to pay some portion of the student fees. Not much support in terms of part-time jobs or even work after graduation.

Placement:

It’s a long and tough process in all honesty. At least two year back there were limited opportunities and you would need a reference to get your foot in. The job market is much better now. The median salary for a graduate would range from AUD 60000 to AUD 70000.

It was a fulfilling experience studying at UNSW and I would recommend this university to anyone looking to pursue further education. It is an experience that really makes you grow and provides a good exposure.

  • Dislikes:
  • I won't say I dislike it. However, for masters, schedule is realky flexible and it's just 10-12 hrs per week. You gets loads of time and sometimes it could be a curse more than blessing. Apart from that, I feel campus is full of events and you could end up being distracted from your ling term goal .

Placement:

More than placement, they have career fairs and industry meetups, where Incan talk to hiring managers and network.

Internship:

It's just my second term and I will start applying for internships soon.

My university boasts one of the highest employability rates in the country (especially in STEM). The median salary changes every year. It is one the elite universities of Australia with cutting-edge research.

I like the country and future prospects in my field of study. I am also a recipient of one of their most prestigious scholarships which played a key role in me selecting my university. I have always been interested in Computer Science and UNSW being the best in the country for STEM education, I chose it for my undergraduate degree.

Internship:

Not as frequent but students tend to find their placements. Uts on the other hand, make students go on placements during the semester which is a really good idea which UNSW should implement. By doing so, students will gain skills needed for their career instead of waiting for internship companies to accept them.

I've applied for 3 other universities such as UTS, WSU, USYD alongside UNSW and I've accepted my offer at UNSW due to its environment and study culture. My experience at UNSW open day also played a major role as well. However, there are times when I wish I would be studying at another institute, the reason being is due to trimesters. There is too much workload in a short period that students have now.

Internship:

Great, my department has a specialized industry communication department which allowed me to convey my interest to companies and to experience working in the industry first hand. Additional there are graduate programs run by these companies specifically targeting UNSW students.

Prestige and ranking mainly, however, the student life was fantastic. Additionally, the university provided excellent support in my application and accommodation requests. I was also able to find a job relatively easily during university which contributed greatly to my employability upon graduation. Another of my friends also attended this university with great reviews.

None of this has really been discussed with the first year cohort. It seems as though career options have been made more clear for those doing dual degrees, especially music education (again I have nothing more to say).

Internship:

No, to my knowledge there is no internship and if there is, it isn't offered to first years. This whole required words thing with your survey is super annoying I could've just said no and been done with this

Medicine is one of the fields with high job security. Most graduates tend to get a job if they are willing to go a bit more rural. However, opportunities are limited for international students. With the internship crisis on the rise, it is a challenge for internationals to stay back for an internship or a couple of years of experience

Internship:

N/A, our college doesn't provide internship on its own but they facilitate internships for us in Clinical schools including Liverpool, Sutherland, Bankstown, St George, Prince of Whales and St Vincent's.

UNSW is a big name in Australia. They definitely provide a lot of seminars getting us job ready. These seminars are with recruiters the big names in finance and accounting, which is relevant to me. And career workshops where you learn to write your resume etc.

Internship:

There are subjects within each faculty that students can opt to take. For example next semester I have opted to take Comm2222 for course credit. They have sourced a variety of internships and the bonus is on me to select and apply for one.
